I’m using the correct 1000mA psu. Using the DI, flipped the switch back and forth. Still pulsing.

Weird thing is that when the gain is set to 9o’clock (where it doesn’t pulsate) and I have the fender VI plugged in, it starts to pulsate when I switch on the bass strangle. (I play neck pickup only, didn’t notice when all 3 switched on).
I mostly play fender jazz, passive, have two and same pulsating happens with both.

Today I switched everything on, but didn’t have a bass plugged in, and it was pulsing with no input. Pulsing stopped when I plugged the bass in, but that’s with the gain set at 9 o’clock.
Anyone else getting this pulsing noise?

The DI goes directly into the mixer, SSLSiX, and never had this issue before with other DIs including the finally V3.

That's annoying. Dont have that problem though. I do have transformer isolated power for each of the devices in my home recording setup however.

So my Redacted is on it's own isolated power outlet as well as my pedals and IR loader box.

I have had issues with it clipping a bit nastily for the first 10 15 minutes if the mids or treble are boosted heavily, but my bass has TONS of output and eventually it seems to smooth out... I dunno.

Also, if you get a chance try rolling some tubes thru it. It's fun to see what works. I currently have a Mullard cv4024 in v1 and v3 and an Ei longplate 12ax7 in v2. So far this is my favorite lineup, but I have a GE 5751 I'm looking to pop into v1 to try out.

It's a really phat and tubey sound to be sure , and has more gain then I'll likely ever need , hence the Cv4024's.

Oh, and the latest app should work with any firmware, but I highly recommend upgrading regardless

Anyone tried one of these? Gotta say, it looks (and sounds!) compelling to me.

Hey! So anything ending in a lightening cable doesn’t provide eight juice to power the midi adapter, unless that lightening cable has an adapter for more juice (I think there is a cable meant to help with camera things?).
But USB c cables will do it with an iPhone or iPad.
I have an iPhone 13, so that is why I developed primarily for the Widi Bluetooth adapter because my lightening connection physically won’t work.

Also, seems like more folks are using iPads than I thought would?

I really wish there was a comp in the QC that had hpf side chain…am I missing it somewhere?

The HF driver on those is coaxial, not a whizzer cone.

I had an EA CX-310 that had a similar coaxial driver in it.

Mostly rounds. A few basses have flats because sometimes they're the right tool for the job. As many have said before - it's easier to approximate the sound of flats with rounds that vice versa, but there are some newer flats out there that challenge that old saw.

American sense of individuality, autonomy, and car culture factors into this on some level. I just moved a bit further out from DC (I'm about halfway between DC and B'more now) and did a gig that was about 15 minutes away previously but about twice that now. I'm not a big fan of highway driving for local travel so I tend to look for alternate "scenic" routes when available. In this case the scenic route was also the most direct one. The drive, esp. the drive home, was almost as fun as the gig!

I looked at this issue before building my board and spent far more time than I should on it. I did not go down this route as I ultimately decided I wanted to spend more time on Talkbass cork sniffing pedals than playing, but if I changed my mind, I would recommend looking at the Morningstar line of controllers and the ML10X. AFAICT once you get over the whole midi programming thing, its easier than it looks. Depending on the controller you get and how big a board you want to end up with, you could go small (MC4Pro) or extra juicy (MC8Pro). The ML10X gives you 10 mono loops, reorderable, matrix switching, potentialy smaller than the ES5 if you go with a MC4/MC6Pro and the ML10X and ,of course, full midi control.
I'm not someone who wants to spend time looking at a small screen on the ES-5 so I would program anything via a desktop app if its available. I'm also not familiar with how full featured the BOSS desktop app is, but the Morningstar desktop app is known for its ease of use and I believe you can even control and update the controllers via bluetooth for certain models such as the MC4 pro and the MC8 Pro. I think some folks here on TB use them and the ES-5 so I would query for information and opinions on both and decide. In my humble opinion, if you are even thinking about midi, and are willing to spend the time programming presets, then Morningstar is the way to go.
No, I'm not a salesman for them. I do have a MC4Pro in the box though waiting to get wired up to a Anagram for a small board as my first foray into the world of midi. I am still tempted to go full stupid with a ML10X and a MC8Pro and rebuild my big board, but baby steps first.

I own a Woodstock NS-1 but the euro 4 is still my gigging main.

May I ask why you are curious about that? What does it matter what the majority of people might enjoy? It's pretty clear that both options are pretty popular and totally viable for pretty much any genre of music so what does it matter which one is more popular?
