Hey All,
So, this bass came across my bench today with some fret buzz...
For those who don't know, this is Darryl's green Modulus Bassstar J-bass, which has been his #1 axe for the last 20 years or something - it was even thanked specifically in the liner notes for "God of Love".
Darryl is a Woodstock, NY local and I've seen him play this live many times in our local clubs - it is a monster bass, and if you ever thought that a graphite necked, EMG-equipped bass had to sound 'sterile' or even 'bright', then you should hear him play this.
He gets the thickest, fattest, deepest live sound you'll ever hear,
and some amazing B3-style sub/dub kind of stuff too.
And I got to play it today!
This is a seriously good sounding bass, and it's been heavily used - check out the 1/4" deep finger wear under the G-string,
and the big chunks of wood missing on the shoulder cut area.
