Just got one myself and did a search and could not find a "Sabres club" or a "post your Sabres thread" so I figured I'd crank one up.

I've owned so many Sabres, they are truly great basses. The first pic nicely shows the differences between pre-EB and EB-era Sabres. I've had 5 or so pre-EBs but I love the EB-era Sabres - I've had so many more of those. I should have kept all of these but all I have left is a natural/rw 1988 Sabre.

Don't cry too much over spilt milk. HH Stingrays and Sterlings are out there and they are great basses if you have a spare $1,500 or so for a new one.:)

I had a Sabre back in the 1990s. It was a killer bass. Anybody have a fretless Sabre? I played on in Atlanta back in the day, and it was wicked!:bassist:

Hey Jim - thanks for the compliment in the condition of mine. As for you comment of "no EBMM bass can touch it", that's purely subjective. If you notice, BDGotoh actually had the opposite opinion of them in his post (he has owned many of both pre and post EBMM Sabres and prefers the post EB Sabres. So everybody is entitled to their opinion on this one. I know the one that I have is simply awesome. Rock on!

Ahh I wasn't clear. I haven't tried an EB Sabre but have tried several of the more modern EBMM HH basses and they don't have the vibe the Sabre does. Nicer weights but the sound doesn't measure up to the old boat anchor.
