What do you think about one of these as a pet.....

Although I am deathy afraid of just the little ones, these are just too cool. They can get over a a foot long. I saw some thing on Animal planet about giant Centipedes, and man are these things mean creatures. They move really fast and they seem to be very agressive. The camera guy was almost running from it. Anyways i'm thinking of asking a pet store to order one for me mabey. I might be freaked out having one of these though, I mean what if it got loose?

Im probably going to get a tarantula once I get my new rig settled and save up some more money again.

Trick is to get something that looks creepy as hell but is relatively harmless and you can actually pick up.

Try one of these:
Mexican Redknee

or one of these:
Mexican Fireleg

Is that a Pet or a shot from the set of the villan in the next Godzilla sequel? I agree with Blisshead, that thing's going to invade your body in the night and lay eggs. Next thing you know a head with titanium teeth is going to be staring at you from the hole in your sternum.

What do I think? I think you're nuts.

If you must...

I like this bit best...

First and foremost, do not get bit by your pet centipede. Scolopendra are seriously aggressive creatures and will bite with no provocation. Scolopendra bites are NOT like bee stings. On all Caribbean islands centipedes are feared for the painful and debilitating price of their bites. According to some locals in St. Maarten, a bite means a week in bed.

This is the species you're talking about...

Scolopendra heros is purported to make tiny incisions with its legs while walking across human skin. When the animal is irritated, a poison is supposedly produced near the base of each leg and dropped into the wounds causing inflammation and irritation. According to one story cited by Dr. Baerg, an officer in the Confederate Army, while sleeping in his tent, was suddenly aroused by the creepy feeling of a large centipede crawling on his chest. A number of spots of deep red, forming a broad streak, indicated the arthropod’s passage across the man’s chest and abdomen. Violent pain and convulsions soon set in, accompanied by excessive swelling in the bitten area. The victim fought with death for two days and then succumbed. The agony suffered by the bitten officer was described by an eyewitness as the most frightful he had ever observed. The famed arthopod scientist J. L. Cloudsley-Thompson once explained that “centipedes seem to exert a weird fascination on the morbid appetites of the hysterical and insane.”

"...a weird fascination on the morbid appetites of the hysterical and insane" sounds about right to me

*** is wrong w/ a dog, or cat? Geezus...
If he's like me its probably because he doesnt have room or money for one.

I cant keep something like that in my dorm and the price of feeding a tarantula is zilch. I imagine its about the same for one of those deadly buggers.

My medical bill would be smaller with one of the tarantulas I posted though.
