Just when you thought people couldn't get any stupider...

MOSCOW - NASA's mission that sent a space probe smashing into a comet raised more than cosmic dust — it also brought a lawsuit from a Russian astrologer. Marina Bai has sued the U.S. space agency, claiming the Deep Impact probe that punched a crater into the comet Tempel 1 late Sunday "ruins the natural balance of forces in the universe," the newspaper Izvestia reported Tuesday. A Moscow court has postponed hearings on the case until late July, the paper said.

like ... this is a bad thing? And she lives in Russia

"ruins the natural balance of forces in the universe,"
I don't see what's the problem? Just go back to your Astrology textbook to the formulas that cover comets and enter the new velocity vector for the comet, run through the calculations again and your horoscopes are completely accurate again. She obviously went through all that in Astrology school with the original velocity vector for that comet, right?

See, it happens in Russia, not the US. At least in Kansas, they're teaching astrology in astronomy class, numerology in mathematics class, and creationism in science class. The kids in Kansas already have their horoscopes adjusted correctly.

...careful, that kinda talk could drag this thread over to TPA!!!

Of course, then I'd REALLY have some fun with it!

On the contary, I always think people can get dumber. I imagine that there is a ways-to-go before we reach the bottom of the barrel.

The problem is as we continue to shield people from the consquences of their stupidity, making things more and more foolproof, we simply breed bigger and better fools.

We live in an expanding universe. Just as we are approaching the bottom of the barrel, the bottom of the barrel is receeding away from us at ever increasing velocity.
