cant pick an envelope filter. help!

okay so, i'm an effects maniac. but i cant decide on an envelope filter. obviously, i love the wet and funky sound of the original mutrons, and its obviously a bootsy-type thing im trying to get. right now, i have a boss AW-3. whenver i turn it on i loose just about all my bottom end. not good. whats a good, wet, funky filter, that wont drop any bottom end? price is not much of a concern.

i want something thats not rediculously complicated, wet and funky, but most importantly, bottom end-friendly. suggestions?

i really dont want to get the q-tron if i dont have too. i've owned 3 EHX pedals, all have died very quickly on me..my old microsynth lasted half way through one rehearsal..

but ill look into the DOD FX25..are the newer models not as good? or just differnt?

For a little more out there electronic type tone, the EBS BassIQ kills.

On the earthier side I just got a Maxon AF-9 and really dig it so far.

Nice thing about the maxon is the bypass is squaky clean.

i own 3 ehx pedals (smmw/h, big muff, and q-tron) there all awesome and i have never had a problem with them breaking. and i recently got the q-tron im very happy with it, it takes a while to find the right settings for bass but once u do ur set

That Boss auto wah is horrible for bass. I recently got a Q-tron from ebay and I love it. The down sweep mode can get a little LOUD if you don't keep your dynamics reigned in.
That Tweaktronix sounds good as do the old FX25 and the Bottom Feeder but I really wanted the down sweep as well as the up. I was looking at the Maxon but they're pretty expensive even used.

There's a pricey FX25 on ebay right now too, battery cover and all.

I don't think I'd really say it keeps all your lows though. I think it sounds glorious, and is worth the losses until I can get one with a blend, but definately not like the AF-9 for low end retention IMO.

You might want to try out a Pigtronix EP-1. Very fat and funky filter. I wanted something more aggressive and cutting but the EP-1 is a great pedal.

Also, it's an autowah, but the MXR Bass Auto Q can get very wet sounding.

A sleeper is the Jacques Trinity. I bought my guitar player one for his birthday and have used it a few times on bass. Very cool and gives you an envelope filter, autowah and manual wah all in one pedal. It can make some very cool noises that other pedals can't.

:confused: Woah... Totally different experience to mine then.

With my FX25 (old darker green one), I find it increases the low end dramatically. If you really attack the note, it goes high, but then heads really low. Almost 400w GK cab wreckingly low! Its like "WeooooooooHHHHHH" if that makes any sense? Im actually considering moving to something that doesn't scare the hell out of me to use through my rig!

Its an insane filter.
