Sansamp VT Bass?

Hi Justin, first I'd like to say thanks for being a top guy and taking the time to contribute so much to the forums :)

Now onto my question. Being a user of both various Ampeg tube amps as well as Sansamp pedals, have you had a chance to tinker with the VT Bass yet. if so what are your thoughts on it, how well would you say it immitates that Ampeg tube sound?

I've not been fortunate enough to own my an SVT, but I was lucky enough to play through a couple several years back. From what I can tell it does a fairly good job (I absolutely love these pedals), but it'd be interesting to hear a pro Ampeg user's thoughts on it.

VT bass is amazing. Such a strong pedal. Genius, in fact.

It does a somewhat similar sound to an SVT. But I think it sounds unique and cool in its own right. Just buy one, it's not too expensive. You can't lose.

VT = pedal of the future. Justin is way too busy with NIN to be bothered with ABing the VT against vintage Ampegs. I'm not ;) It's amazing how close to the real things the VT gets, way closer than anything on the market before that I've tried. Won't make you feel all sassified like playing through a real SVT just before the power tubes start breaking up, but through a PA or on a recording, it's a dead-on imitation. It's about as close to an SVT or B-15 as you'll ever get for $150.

Kicks its ass. Well, maybe not kicks its ass, but I've never heard anything they've done in the Pods that can match the VT for really nailing it. Having said that, I haven't tried the most recent version.

BTW, I don't know if this interests you Justin, but a guy named dannybuoy in the effects forum scoped his VT to find flat, and he got it by putting the bass and mid just slightly past noon, the character at noon, and the treble on 10:00. Sounds like flat to me. Got no idea if that's info you can use, but thought I'd pass it along. Definitely makes finding sounds easier for me.

I haven't been a SansAmp or Ampeg fan, but there are so many people who use this thing - some with my exact setup - to fill out some tone that I may have to see if I can find one when I go out of town this weekend.

Also interested in the Xotic RC Booster or BB Preamp.
