    4 or 5 String Dilemma

I've done both, and they each have specific advantages. Long term, you're far better off learning alternate tuneings on an extended range bass. Later on if you write in C, D or the like no need to reinvent the wheel.

    Bass Tone Help!

I've seen a lot of these types of myths called out lately- but I'm sorry to say your logic is flawed. TR is right. An 80 HZ output from a 15" driver takes longer to develop clarity than the same from a 4mm driver. It (15") also has more power behind it and keeps its wavelength longer. Regards...

    Mark bass

From what I can see You're Maxing your drivers out- check your cabinet rms rating, because at 4 ohms your cab should be rated from 4-500 watts. If less, you've got to change cabinets if you are going to stretch your amps legs. If you're only experiencing at gigs, are you able to DI direct...

    Upgrading Markbass Rig

I see a lot of posts here about air movement and wattage with impedance; but not much on flavor. The size of the driver has more to do with the speed and character of the tone than volume. The first step is deciding if you like the tone of the 10s. 12s have more low end projection, 15s even...

Who Has a Bass No One Else on this Board Has?? (Part 3)

Here's mine; early David Minnieweather. Really cool maple top, Wenge and Purple Heart neck. Nice nuetral frettless tone.

    EMG Wiring Question

So I decided to Mod an Older Ibanez SR (96 SR1205) with EMG 40 TWX and 40 CS at Neck And Bridge, Respectively. Went with BQC control, as the setup was basically identical to the original eq setup. Set it up as V/V Tone control. Seems pretty straight forward, except all the diagrams provided...

Orange Tiny Terror 500 vs MarkBass TTE 500

I compared both (albeit at different shops the same day) and went with the TTE. I found it a little warmer, and with the gain up had less of a solid state sound to it. Both good heads, but a tube driven high end rolloff and a simple but effective on-board compressor is tough to beat for the dough.

    smashing equipment- a lost art?

While I can't speak for anyone else on here, I work too hard for the gear I have, and even if it's a $40 cheapie at the pawn shop, I'd rather see that money put to the new pedal fund, or string that bass I've been meaning to do forever. The days of record companies footing the bill on credit are...

    Do ibanez SUCK?

There is a lot of word-of-mouth stuff going around about Ibby's, but there is an amount of truth into every rumor. Are some Ibanez basses firewood? Without a doubt. Are some to die for? Bet yer arse they are. Like with so many behemoth companies out there, they provide a product line...

    Would you quit this band?

It is certainly time to go. You must have learned a great deal from the songwriter in the time you spent on this project, sounds like it's time to get something you are happy with on all levels. I struggle with some of what you mention, but for me there are core ideals that need to be coherent...

My Fender Jaguar hums like a hornets nest!

If you're humming in passive mode you surely have a ground issue, most likely a missing wire connection. Open-er up, and check with the factory schematics, and go from there.

My Fender Jaguar hums like a hornets nest!

I just went through this fix myself. I did the following things... 1. Shield the cavities of the jag. Home Depot, in the Garden section has Copper Tape (Used to keep slugs out of gardens, about 12.00). Use the copper tape to create a "Faraday Cage" with the individual cavities. 2. Shield the...

    Combo amps, which one?

M6 without a doubt. I use this as my go to amp, and with any number of cabs from 210 to 4-8 to 6-10. Always sounds great, and it has a decent amount of vocal range. Easily the boomiest head you have on your list. Solid state weight, tube sound, as loud as you could ever want And it's US made.
