    He is not using any effect, it is just the sound of his Spector played with a pick. A SansAmp VT Bass can get you close, but i has more to do with the setup of the bass and the attack on the picking technique.

    Read "Español Correcto Para Dummies", and played around with my Fish and Chips EQ and VT Bass, looking for "the sound in my head", which actually found this morning, turning off the compressor, and setting low gain on my amp did the trick.
