G&L L-1000 vintage VS current builds

I have a 2015 SB-2 as well as the 2020 CFL L-1000 and the two are very different one being P/J the other being more of a MM style and though I do like the SB-2 like you said it still doesn't have that "something" that the L-1000 has so the L being newer it might not necessarily be just about old...

My 2020 CFL Research L-1000 does have the OMG mode.

    Fender Player plus

I agree. I am 64 and got a great deal on a 75th Anniversary Fender Player Plus Jazz in the awesome Olympic Pearl color and although at 10+ pounds it is the heaviest of my many basses I just bought a nice 4" wide padded strap and now it feels as light as most of my others..sounds and plays great too.

The Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club

+1 We do 6 songs each week. I import the chord/lyric sheet into the MusicStand app on my ipad and while listening to each tune on Youtube make notes on each sheet as to how it's being played and what I want to do with it, never 100% as original. If fact at times I have come up with lines that I...

How do you go about owning two of the same model/bass?

Of the twelve basses that I own five are precisions - a Sire D5 (Fender '54 copy) a MIM Fender 'Special Edition' -all black body, pickguard and headstock w/ebony fretboard, a Fender Professional II Precision, a G&L SB-2 (PJ) and a custom precision I built that looks great and with the LaBella...

    Man i'm glad

Even with the rising prices the key is to call. The sales departments are told to move product and they will always do a deal with you. In fact I just picked up a brand new (unopened box) Fender Professional II with a beautiful fur lined hard case for $1375, the price on the site is $1749. I've...

How did sunburst become the "default" Fender colour?

How did sunburst become the "default" Fender colour?

I have had many bass guitars (and still do) but never owned a sunburst..until this past week..when I picked up a new Fender American Pro 2. Not only does it sound and feel great but I am in love with the SB finish, even the tort pickguard..but then again I am 63 :woot:

    String through body or bridge?

Of the many basses I've owned none were string through until recently. I picked up a Fender AP 2 and it came with the strings installed through the body. The thing I've found that's an issue is that on each saddle there are grooves E & A have 3 and D & G 4 so you can adjust the string distances...

The Official Fender Precision Bass Club (Part 8)

Last week I bought the 'Fender Black Limited-Edition W/Ebony Fingerboard Precision Bass' MIM at GC and it looks, feels and plays great but after I got it home while examining it more closely I noticed that the ebony fingerboard thickness was not even throughout the length of the neck. Just...

    G&L Club Part 7

After reading about the issue with these necks I pulled mine out of the closet (where I had put it because it wouldn't intonate and was waiting for me to sell it) sure enough 21 frets! I too contacted G & L about a month ago and they sent me the proper 20 fret neck which I switched over and...

    Ibanez SR Series

Doesn't appear to..satin finish, I can feel all the nooks and cranies..BTW..though it has the 3-way mid selecter it doesn't have the passive/active switch..that is an upgrade I would want to do if possible. Anyone know what that would entail? I am a diy guy

    Ibanez SR Series

The version I picked up a couple months ago is a 2018 SR500PB (GC exclusive finish I'm told) interestingly even though used and 4 years old no problems with the finish (yet!) This is the one I own:

    Ibanez SR Series

I'm sure this must have been discussed before but why in the world would they would have a nice body finish like the one shown above in post #29 (Deep Ocean Flat) and pair it with a brown headstock on a premium series while lesser versions like the SR300 series have many color choices/durable...
