Double Bass Identifying a mystery 70s bass

I'm looking at buying a bass in the PNW, and I stumbled across this one: Facebook The owner doesn't seem to know much about it outside of that it was purchased in the 70s and there is no sticker on the f holes. Any help with any sort of ID or idea of the construction/quality would be much...

Double Bass Shipping a DB from UK to CA

Hello all, I am looking into moving my double bass from the UK to Canada, and hoping I can get some advice on if this is even worth doing. I have a Westbury bass (I believe that is just a relabeled Eastman). Is this worth the hassle of getting across to me? What would that process look like...

    My gas is over...

Well done! You've reached bassist heaven! I've finally reached that way with amps with my Markbass LMT (albeit I don't use the tube a lot) and an Epifani UL2 112. What an incredible tone. I'm heading in the right direction with my Lakland Skyline JO5 (this may be it, but I don't want to jinx...

Can somebody help me out with this P-up (actually a ramp)

In this case the ramp is built partly between and OVER the bridge pickup (if he has one that is as this is a classic p bass design like Sting's). It may not be flat after I've looked at it again, but it's not as curved as most. Good luck and peace

Can somebody help me out with this P-up (actually a ramp)

It's definitely a ramp, albeit a very homemade one... Ramps are a block of wood normally placed between the two pickups to continue the effect of playing over a pickup. Normally they are matched to the radius of the fingerboard to give a better feel than a flat pickup. This one is flat on his...

    Recommend me an amp?

My Marshall more than held its own in a hard rock band in practices and gigs... Not trying to sell it at all... ;)

Thanks! I've got my first gig on it coming up soon, and I'm looking forward to being able to go in with a great tone on flat EQ!

Official Markbass Club - the beat goes on

Please may I join? I've got a LMT 500 and a classic 2x10 cab with adjustable tweeter. I play this with flat EQ and have got the best tone I've ever dreamed of. Super loud too! Hopefully the amp will stay with me for good!

    Ported cabs or sealed cabs?

I personally prefer ported cabs. I have a double front ported Markbass 2x10 cab. Sounds incredible!
