MTD Kingston CRB - does it really sound like a P?

Yes the finish continues across the entire bass. I have a black one that looks great without the pick guard.

MTD Kingston CRB - does it really sound like a P?

I bought a CRB with a maple neck. I am very happy with it. They did a great job of achieving a good P bass tone. The neck is the MTD design so it very easy to get around on and the fit and finish is amazing for a bass at this price range.

    MTD Kingston CRB 5

I bought one for a backup. It's an amazing bass for the price. The MTD neck is fast and easy to get around on. The pickups are quite and have an great P bass tone with lots of punch. I got mine used at $400. I was expecting to have to replace the pickups and bridge. After 4 gigs where I...

    GR Bass review

I also have a GR Bass Areotech 212 slim. It is an amazing cab that I am driving with a Berg fort'e D head. The combination is killer. I use it in a blues / rock band. Its handles the volume and punch I want while covering the low B string like very few rigs a capable of. With a little...

Which Amp head would you buy?

I have tried the Mesa and Genzler I ended up getting a Bergantino fort'e D head. It's perfect for the range of music I play. It has a lot more head room and available volume. It has great tone and is very responsive to your playing technique. The distortion circuit is very versatile and...

The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

The headless bass is a Mosses Key bass. I bought it in 2003. It was at the NAMM show. The entire bass is graphite The pickups are proto types made by Lace just for this bass. This is the bass I travel with. It is a 35' scale yet fits it almost any overhead compartment. It plays and sounds...

Has anyone played a MTD Kingston CRB 5 string bass ?

I am looking for an inexpensive 5 string P bass style bass to use as a backup. I have played a MTD Kingston that I really liked but I have not played this model. The MTD Kingston CRB 5 seems to meet my criteria. I found a used one that I believe to have been made in Korea. The newer ones are...

best micro bass combo for 5 string elect and upright bass

I am looking for a micro bass combo to play small jazz gigs with. I have looked at the small Traynor SB 106 & SB 110 / PJB BG 110 & BG Double Four / Roland Micro Cube. Does anyone have any experience with these or other micros? My priorities are in this order, authentic sound /...

Ed Friedland reviews the Rick Turner 6 string Renaissance bass

I have been playing a fretless 5 with the dingus attached, for several years. It has a fantastic sound and the ease of playing allows me to play things that are not possible on most basses. Of coarse this is with the Tomastic Acousticore strings. It has become one of my primary basses. With...

    G. Gould Bass

Geoff Gould makes one hell of a bass. I have recently purchased one of his 6 strings with the graphite neck. The bass is beautiful and the neck is amazing, it's wide with resonable string spacing and very thin so you can get all over it. The playability and sound of this bass makes it one of...

    G. Gould Club!

These basses are not easy to find. I have had mine for a year now and I love it. The wide shallow neck makes playing a dream. The more I checked into the bass the less I found out. I have communicated with Geoff to buy some strings and get some basic information on the bass but he is not...

Anyone ever tried a Moses "Key Bass?

I bought a Moses Key Bass from Ed Romane in Las Vegas about 8 years ago. I travel a lot and I wanted a bass that would easily fit in the overhead and still be a 35" 5 string. I had been using one of the cheeper Steinbugers it was ok but I wanted a top end axx with great sound. The Moses does...
