I imagine that the pickups would respond similarly in both basses, assuming the values of the pots and caps are the same (Higher impedance pots/higher capacity caps will brighten the tone, and lower values will darken it.)

A standard 1/4" cord works fine. Some bass amps have dual inputs, low and high impedance, for passive and active inputs, respectively. Most Ashdown amps, for example.

I think that has the possibility to look cool, but it'll take a bit for it to wear down to an appropriate level of even-ness, so to speak. Or maybe cover the body in a thin finish...

Just remember to keep it unplugged when it's not in use.. Didn't know about that when I got my first active, I was getting kinda irate at how fast I was burning through batteries. :rolleyes:
