I would take the Rockbass. Warwick necks play great, I have been playing one for a long time without problems. (4 string though) The Rockbass quality issues were from pre 2006, the new 2010 models are amazing and sound great. You could order both and send the one you don't like back for the 45...

If the guy isnt selling it as a real Yamaha then there cant be much of a problem, just look how many companies use Fender body's, copy those and then put their own name on it. Those are legal, because they don't claim to be real Fenders. I would personally never buy anything from China...

I have tried to connect my active bass directly into the macbook's input jack and use Garageband without success. The signal seemed to be too low and cranking it all up just made it sound horrible. Do you need to have some sort of preamp so that you can send a stronger signal to the computer?
