What are you using to attempt to power it? 9V? At least 500mA? Center negative, 2.1mm plug?

A pedal only draws what it needs (current). As long as the voltage & polarity are correct, and the psu is capable of supplying the current the pedal needs, you’re good.

XLR -> mono 1/4 cables should be wired this way, would be wise to check any purchased cables with a multimeter.
