A proper setup by my Luthier really made a difference for a consistent tone. The only negative I've experienced was the binding tape failing in a few spots. I actually prefer the look with it removed...

I just replaced a set of GHS Pressurewonds with Chrome Flatwounds. The Pressurewounds were definitely brighter sounding. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. And for what it's worth, I have no issues with the original saddle either...

Not necessarily. The excellent Luthier I'm working with took the time to first observe my playing before deciding how to set up my Bass. There's a reason that many professional musicians trust their instruments to the care of professional luthiers. And trust me, I'm certainly not a professional...

I actually thinking the binding makes for a nice contrast on your black version. I guess I like a little more copper on mine. Just my devalued $0.02...

It might seem like sacrilege to the traditionalists here, but the binding that kept pulling away in the neck area was really bugging me. So I just pulled it off. It took about an hour of work, and copious amounts of GooGone, but after a coat of Meguiars Mirror Polish, I'm pleased with the way...

In my case, I'm now happy that I did wait the 24 hours, because when I bought my beautiful new Bass over to my Luthier yesterday afternoon, it took less than a minute for him to identify the twisted neck. To be continued...

I appreciate all of the comments posted in answer to my query, it certainly helped pass the time until my new Bass was released from it's holding cell. It was absolutely worth the wait, and in perfect tune, to boot! The picture definitely doesn't do it justice...
