Alright!!! I just got my custom "blacktop inspired" 5 string. So happy with it. Let me know what you guys think.

As a matter of fact, I'm having a custom made bass built to exactly a jazz specs. Only I'm going to put Seymors on the neck and fender original on the bridge.

I'm sure this has been asked many times before, but i can't seem to find an answer... Are there any 5 string Blacktops? I have a 4 string with an EMG passive pickup on the neck and an original Fender on the bridge and, dear god, that thing kills. I'd love to get my hands on a 5 string.

So, what do people prefer here for amplification right now? I'm currently using a Orange Terror Bass through a 2x10 Mark Bass cab, but I'm hearing a lot of people getting their tone from fx and preamps and using a flat power amp. I want to change my set up and was looking for something small...

Hello ya'll I got a hold of an old Washburn 8 string bass a few years back and I'm fixing it up. I was wondering where I could find or who makes 8 string sets. Or what would be the proper gauges of strings so that I can build the set myself? Any recommendations? Thank you C

Wow, that El Capistan looks amazing. Yes, lots of knobs, but actually very easy to use it looks like. I always get to overwhelmed if they start getting too technical. Those controls are all real straight forward. Thanks for all the recommendations. I shall go shopping soon.

Actually it's not a complete phase out, it's just a partial phase where the tone is thin and "weird" phased sounding. Switching the wiring will fix it?

Ha! uh..yes it was. It has no life. I've spent 12 years developing my tone. I use a good amount of lows ranging from 40hz to about 280 hz. The low mid I don't touch, but I cut nothing, plenty of mids, specificaly 1k, very bosted, a little 2k and anything over that is pretty much worthless...

I guess my concerns with the isobaric cabs from what I read is that it sacrifices volume to give you that tone. Am I wrong is that assumption?

I'm sorry but yes, yes it was. The only thing to change in my setup was the head. Before that I was using my svt-2pro, and I also have used the exact set up but with the Terror bass, both heads dominate. Markbass... meh, not so much.

The only thing I tried from Markbass was an amp and I was really unimpressed. It lacked life, so it leaves me hesitant to bother with the cabs.
