Best bass for gigging Top 40

I love my soundgear sr700. Very versatile, great sound, and it looks awesome too. I also like mm stingrays a bit but have a lot of bite to em so they are mainly good for slap IMO but still a fantastic bass. My vote goes to sr700 and it's not to expensive for what it is

    Warmoth Owners Club!!

Almost have mine finished up just waiting for the neck but it's a j bass with an alder body with black gloss finish. Wizard pickups, audere audio preamplifier, and all Hipshot hardware. The neck is bidseye maple with a Macassar ebony fingerboard. Can't wait to finally get it finished up!

    foam mute or not??

I'm sure it probably sounds better to install it into the actual bridge but when I want that low thump sound I just stick two pieces of black foam underneath the strings and right up against the bridge. This works real well for my bass

    Humidity affect on neck

What you have read is true and humidity does have a huge effect (especially on acoustics). The best thing you could do for your instruments is buy a hydrometer and a room humidifier keep the same humidity all year round. As far as level of humidity most people say around 45% but a friend of my...

    Jazz bass pickups

I know I've already posted a couple forums about peoples opinions comparing a couple pickups. But now I want opinions on which is the absolute best pickup for a jazz bass. I play a large variety of music but mainly classic rock and alternative. Te bass I am using is fretless with an alder body...

Help me complete this "custom J bass"

Bartolini are always a safe bet. Very reliable and pretty good sounding. I recently heard about a company called wizard pickups through the U K. This guy Andy hand makes all these pickups and they go anywhere from 90 to 180 so they are pretty cheap. If you go to his website and shoot him an...

    Wizard pickups

I've done some looking into pickups for a jazz bass that I have and am considering wizard pickups as an option. Does anyone have these or know anyone that does? I just want to make sure that I'm making the right choice with this over bartolini or another brand like that

Do You Avoid, Or Seek Out USED BASSES?

I've had good experience. The best thing is that you don't have to worry about scratching it cause they are already beat up! If something is wrong with it. Which isn't always the case. It's usually cheaper to fix that than to buy the bass brand new so I'm all for it!

    I need some help

Well if you haven't personally played them yet I wouldn't recommend buying them. If you like the sound that could have been the setup that the bass player you listened to has and may affect the sound. I would recommend that you try to find it and play both to see which one sounds and feels...

    Buying the first bass

Get your price range and head over to your local music store and play every single bass that's in that price range. You will be able to find one that really sticks out to you and that should be the one you get. As far as squire goes I personally tend to stay away because my first guitar was a...

    Bass purchases for 2011

I've been working on making a custom j bass off of warmoth. I have the alder body with black gloss finish ordered and also the birdseye maple neck with a Macassar ebony fretless fingerboard. But these won't be here for awhile. I'm putting all Hipshot hardware on with either wizard or bartolini...
