Like others said it all comes down to personal preference. Some say French is better while other say German is better. Try both types of bows and see which kind you like best.

i now remember when i was in the store yestarday playing this bass the shop owner said one of his students purchased this bass from him about 10 years ago and played it with the top band at the University of Texas or somewhere.

I dont know the oldest Ive seen was one made in 2008 at the bass violin shop: Invalid Link Removed Amazing bass though just played one yestarday. I recommend going to shens website: Samuel Shen Musical Instruments or doing more research around the web.

This is the Glaesel DB 673 Antonious Stradivarius copy, my current bass. I have been trying to find more information on this bass but didnt find anything on it be it Glaesel's website or anywhere else. Does anyone know anything about this bass or a similar model? Also how much might it be worth?

Thanks I will try to contact/visit shops. I actually visited Bernhardt last time I was Greenville but the owner was out and they only had two basses so not much of variety but I might see myself going back there in the near future.
