    Extreme Makeover: GK RB Edition

Great thread, thanks for the informative read. I nearly bought a Fusion 550 (almost new) yesterday for $1200AU but I love my 1001rb and prefer it to the mkII which I find you need to drive too hard to get the growl. I thought I might look into putting in a mkII pre amp in like yours. Could you...

Review: GHS Black Nylon Tape Wound strings

I bought a 1987 japanese p bass reissue 62 with these string on them. They have been on for 14 years and sounding amazing. I bought the last 3 sets I could find in Australia. My 70 p bass has Thomastik flats on. I like both sets for different reasons. The Thomastiks are now 9 years old and sound...

What's the best modification you've made?

Hate to admit it but I removed stock bridge from my 70 P-bass and but a Babicz full contact on it. Great stability and intonation never wavers. Doesn't look as cool though!

Fender Bassman 300 Pro: Cooling Fans?

I was wondering if this worked for you and made a difference to the amps operating temperature. Is it quiet? I was going to put a 6volt fan on the back with a walmart plug for quiet operation. cheers

    Sunn 300t blowing main fuse.

Just found these and have emailed him re suitability and if he can match them to 5%. They could be a good compromise for the more expensive winged c's http://tctubes.com/SED-SV6550B-Winged-C-6550-KT88-tubes.aspx

What kind of strings do you use?

TI's with my Fender 70 P-bass - amazing strings get better as they get older. DR Marcus Miller Fat Beams - I have these on a jazz over 4 years old and I am still winding the treble back. I think with these you need to give them at least 4 months before they sound great!

GK NEO 210 - lamps in internals?

OK I found some from the GK dealer in Australia - I have 12v 10watts in place at the moment so I can use the cab AND it fixed the static rustling issue! Apparently when these lamps blow they cause some issues at times with the sound of the cab. So all in all an interesting experience. Thanks for...
