What tube amp do you play?

Main amp is a 1976 SVT. Backup is a Bugera Marshall clone. I run them through an Ampeg 8x10, 6x10 or 4x10 depending on the situation.

I can't imagine ever needing to be louder than an SVT through a fridge. The combination is just magic.

EBS Classic T90 and matching 410, though I also have a SVT210AV for home use that I am going to double up for a stacked 210 experiment.

Old a/v gear, torn up and repackaged. 12ax7, 2-6v6gt, 5y3gt. 2-1x12. and it never fails to turn heads. can't do much more than practice with it, but still....

Fender Bassman 100t with matching Fender 410 Neo speaker cabinet.

Nothing vintage in my amp collection these days except for all the vintage NOS tubes inside them!

I spent several weeks tube rolling with this amp, looking for the best sounding NOS power amp and preamp tube compliment possible. Fortunately, I own at least a dozen of every popular model and brand, both US and European produced.

Here is what I am running, and BOY does this amp sound fantastic!

GE 6L6-GC Power Tubes circa 1963

Preamp tubes:
Best sounding/testing set of all the various NOS tubes in my 1400+ vacuum tube collection. (over 500 12AX7s total)

V1: Mullard 12AX7a
V2: Telefunken 12ax7
V3: RCA 12AT7 (date code 1957)

Shown here with some runners up.

Brand new high testing Mullard Blackburn 12AX7a from the late 50s, along with a Telefunken 12AX7 from the mid 60s...

The new Super Bassman is simply superb. Hard to go past it for versatility & power.
But I still love the Studio Bass as it's lighter & sound really gnarly.

Just bought a Fender Bassman Pro 300T head awesome sound, its tonally flexibility is amazing - just re tubed it with Svetlana Vintage Winged C 6550b's NOS - not the really expensive ones (http://tctubes.com/SED-SV6550B-Winged-C-6550-KT88-tubes.aspx - highly recommend Tyler great to deal with and knows a lot about tubes ). Have not run them in yet but so far impressed with the clarity and the ability to convey harmonic content accurately. Stock pre-amp tubes in it that need changing so will try some Mullards, JJ's and maybe nos Jan Philips 12at7's or Ratheons - I love it and so still room for improvement with new pre-amp tubes. Mind you it will not make it to all my gigs just the big ones!

The original set of output tubes (ElectroHarmonix) only served five months before number four 'gave up the ghost'. They have been replaced by Sovteks.
