    sydney australia?

I'll def agree with that, lets get something sorted out. I'm happy to lend a hand getting something organised, seeing as I've kinda done stuff like that before. What do we think?

OH NO! NOT CREED! ANYTHING BUT CREED!

I'm prepared to admit that Brian Marshall was in fact one of my first influences as a bassist... There... I said it... ;)

Best musical advice you ever got

Very close to my personal beliefs... :) 1 and 2 are my top ones, but my 3rd is enjoy yourself. I personally feel that you play better, listen better and feel better when you have fun with what you are doing. Best advice I ever got? Well, I remember when I first started playing someone...

    Decent Multi-FX Pedal?

I'm the same boat as you mate. I only have an EH Big Muff (the russian built one), but used to have an zoom multi fx back when i first started playing. I'm picking up a Boss GT-10B in a few days time. I've heard good things about GT-6B as well, and they are a tad cheaper. Do yourself a...

    3 finger approach, questions

I play with 3 fingers pretty much all the time, and i personally think playing with an anchored thumb is the best, but to have it anchored permanently is wrong. You need to have the flexibility to hit the higher strings ( D,G,C on a 6 string bass) and not lose any definition. Besides that...

Pinky vs Ring on the fretboard

I use all 4 fingers on my left hand as well. It's good to challenge yourself sometimes, say to consciously try to use a different finger pattern for a riff that you play all the time. Funnily enough, I use 3 fingers on my right hand as well, being a finger style player. It takes a little...

    New Bass Amp

Backline is GK's lower end series, but in saying that, it's still GK. If money is an issue, and you can get away with a lower end GK, as opposed to a Hartke or, god forbid, a Behringer, then you've done yourself some justice. Not sure how the Goldline cabs sound, but any GK stuff I've tried...

    bass amp/head decision help

Probably THE best advice you could get dude. I'm not sure about everyone else here, but I know it's my experience that you NEVER buy anything without trying it first. And if for whatever reason the store person says you can't try it, tell them they shouldn't be running a music store Good...

    bass amp/head decision help

I'm not surprised people have been saying go with an Ampeg. They are more versatile than people give them credit for. Barring that, the GK wouldn't be a bad idea, seeing as alot of metal guys dig them, but if you could find yourself a decent Trace Elliott head, I'd hit that up. Cheaper than...

You're a champion. Thanks mate, Jim :bassist:

    Ideas for sweep techniques...

Hey all, I've always been a bit of a 'journeyman'when it comes to writing bass lines for music, and am always keen to throw something out of left field into a song, provided its musically valid. In saying that, I've always wanted to be able to do a kind of sweep thing, almost like a...

    Hartke 3500, an unsung hero?

Someone was mentioning before that alot of people like to replace the tubes that the unit is shipped with. I'm guessing your circumstance would be one of the reasons why this seems to be common practice. That and they don't sound that great either. I just used it all SS when I had one...

    Hartke 3500, an unsung hero?

I used to use a 3500 a few years ago through a Marshall 8x10. Worked fine, sounded fairly flat too, which I liked cos I like the sound of my basses. Only problems I've ever heard of is they are constantly having problems with drivers and/or power failures. A solid back-up, and great for guys...

What Kind of Bass Guitar do you Play (Re-loaded)? BE SURE TO REVOTE!

I've played one of the old school Hamer 12 strings, like the guy from Cheap Trick uses. Pretty sweet sounding instrument, throw a bit of distortion into the mix and it could tear the face off an eskimo :p
