    which speaker do you mic?

I am not much on mic'ing, for it takes so much time and experimentation. (DI is convenient and consistent)... but I have mic'd. On my cabs with tweets, I generally start by pointing the mic directly between the speaker and tweeter, then tilt the mic a bit off-axis towards the speaker. This...

    Mod'ing controls on a Jazz

I have a love hate thing going here. Love my J (although I didn't think I would) but HATE the V-V-T. I would like to do V-T-Blend. Anyone know where I can find a schematic for such. I would also like to upgrade the pup's, so suggestions are welcomed.

    PA question...

First off, positioning of your cabs relative to your microphones is an important consideration. You mentioned having feedback. A lot of inexperienced players will set speakers behind the microphones, mostly because they do not have monitors. Secondly, it isn't always a safe thing, (and some...

noob questions on our new Mixing Board

The board does have a low pass filter for the mono out, but I believe it is at a really shallow slope (6-12db at most). Didn't have much luck using this route.

    power amp advice please

I have this same amp. Be aware that you get 900 @ 4OHM x2. I think it is 450-500 per channel @ 8ohm. If you daisy chain tops on one side, bottoms on the other, THEN you will be seeing 450w per cab across the board... providing all 4 cabs are of 8ohm impedance.

    casters, stands, floor coupling, Help.

I'm encountering the same thing! It sounds mighty aweomse, but the 115/210 combois a bit much for my current situation.

Need SMALL passive monitor recommendation -- anyone tried the Carvin TRx12n speaker?

I have a pair of the older 12's by Carvin. It isn't the TR. More comparable to the LS1202M. I wish I could find more. They handle excellent lows for a 12 in a wedge. Very natural sounding speaker. Very lightweight. Never had a problem out of either. I have even used one for a bass cab in smaller...

    I'm a P-Bass guy from now on!

I had that thought myself today, but in the end it was golden! we were set up, soundchecked and ready to go, and rain came. Tore down, moved from outside to inside, and had to do it all over again. But, it turned out fine. I didn't think he was screwing me, but I htough the whole mix would...

Direct Box patched in the FX loop?

Worked out great, and the soundman actually prefered a post signal. I was just worried about overlaoding the box, which was a Sansamp DI. Everything went swell. No problems at all. thanks for replying!

    In-Ear Monitoring

M-Audio IE20XB's are a dual driver monitor that are designed for bass players and those who require X-tra Bass (XB). They run at about $199.

    I'm a P-Bass guy from now on!

I once had an affinity P, with Hot Rail pickups in place of the stock ones. I also modded so I could throw phase. It was actually a good sounding bass set up like that.

Direct Box patched in the FX loop?

The preamp section of a Peavey Combo 300. I have 2 options with this amp. It has a pre-EQ patchpoint in which you DO have to route it back in, and a post-EQ in which you do NOT have to route it back in. The latter is my choice. I have never worked with the soundman before, and I would rather...
