I would say that it depends on the conditions in which they were kept. If you left them in a drawer or perhaps in your case I think they should be fine, maybe not 100% but definitely not dead.

1.5 million? how can she possibly pay that. It takes an average person 30 odd years to repay a $300,000 home loan, this is 5 times more. Do they honestly expect to see this money, its pretty silly.

A cheap set of strings here in Australia will set you back about $40, plus the 1 1/2 half hour travel time to the nearest music shop. I've had the same set of strings on one of my basses since I bought it nearly 5 years ago. I only wish strings would cost $20 :D

I really only play 2 basses, an SX P and a 5 string. Being a university student I don't really have the cash to just "try" other basses so I tend to stick to what Ive got.

I used to do this when I used expensive cables. I just stuck a piece of paper on the end of the cable with my initials on it, then I wrapped it in clear tape. You can't see it from the audiences perspective and if you do it right it looks really neat.

I have 3 basses, but only take 1 to a gig. I suppose if you take care of it and maintain it properly (which I do) you don't really need to worry about having a spare.
