Fender Decals On Non-Fender Basses

I'm pretty sure Fender parts have Fender on them already... If they don't, as many have mentioned, you can take it to a Fender dealer to have them authenticate it and get the necessary decals.

Well, allparts are Fender licensed but with no decal.

I'm sorry, but if a decal isn't personally authorized by the Fender company, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

then would it? You're now including "licensed products" which is different. It it wasn't different, Allparts would be able to sell you a Fender decal.

My friend bought a genuine Rolex for his old man. Old man immediately went out and bought the same model fake Rolex, so he can wear it when he goes out while the real deal stays safe under lock and key.

People just behave in their own idea of logic all the time.

Actually, that's not the case. I am building a J Bass that I consider a tribute as much as anything. I spent about $1,800 on the thing, and every single component is top of the line. It just looks stupid to me with a blank headstock, so I got an old 70's style Fender decal for it. Besides the fact that it is mostly made of Fender parts and a Warmoth neck and body that are licensed by Fender. It is actually a better, and slightly more expensive bass than its Fender American Deluxe equivalent.

Here's a twist on the situation: I bought a used Mexican P Bass Special (Cowpoke) a few years ago. The bass had had several owners and one of them removed the Made in Mexico decal. I don't know the story but I figure someone probably intended to pass it off as a MIA to an unsuspecting buyer. Scoundrel!!!!

Watcha gonna do now? Find a fake decal maker to get the MIM words back on? Its the only right thing to do besides putting up with the giggles from your local Fender dealer.

Personally I've never done it, mainly because I don't know how to and wouldn't really want to mess up an otherwise nice headstock decal on my SX. That being said though, even if I was a hands on guy and did know how to do it I probably wouldn't anyway, Ive gotten many compliments on how good my SX sounds, some even think its the "real thing" upon first glance. To be honest that makes me really proud and stoked to think that a bass which I payed little over $200 for and invested no money in has that sort of effect on people. The fact is its an SX and I'm not only proud as hell to own it, but also call it my main bass.

LOL! I've since sold the bass. It's had at least 4 owners. Just goes to show that eventually they do get sold/passed on. All the people justifying fake decals with "I'll never sell this bass!" aren't thinking ahead.

You should put the Warmoth decal on the headstock. It's deceitful to present it as something that it's not.

They'll all sell their counterfeit basses. The reason they put a Fender decal on it is because, despite what they claim about their basses being "better than a Fender", what they really want is a genuine Fender. One day they'll be able to afford one, and the fake will be out the door on it's way to some unwitting buyer.

Makes sense! I like my Warmoth parts basses better than any Fender I've played and they proudly sport the Warmoth decal on the headstock. I'm not putting a fake Fender decal on them, resale value be damned!

This thread is full of justification, rationalization, and excuses.

I was a gassin' fur a best versatilest bass withy no sustain(who needs the sustain anyhoo) for duh metalz \m/ :bassist: and tha oblivious choice was a Squire Classic Modifide Jazz w/ Chromes but my job is being sexy and it doesn't pay the moneys so I can't uhfford the Squire so found this thread and the idea hit me on the top of my head on how to reach all my dreams and goals!!!!! I took my ordinary run of duh mills bass guitar and I transforms it into my bass that I never knew I was always dreaming about. Well enough of the chit chat I now present you with my decaled up super bass of awesome.
