Fender Decals On Non-Fender Basses

I have a question - you're trying to pass off a cheap imitation as a Fender product. Obviously YOU CARE. Why?? Why do YOU CARE enough to go through the effort to give yourself a sham image? What do you think that does for you??

I just wanted to take a break from the Fender logo clash and say that is a really beautiful dog. Dogs are one of the few things in the world I like as much as basses!

Here's a twist on the situation: I bought a used Mexican P Bass Special (Cowpoke) a few years ago. The bass had had several owners and one of them removed the Made in Mexico decal. I don't know the story but I figure someone probably intended to pass it off as a MIA to an unsuspecting buyer. Scoundrel!!!!

I'm sorry. I did get a no-original decal. But it's not totally my fault as you can see.
But I insist, I don't think I'm incurring into something wrong. IMHO. And will never sell my bass. And if I do it someday, I will tell the truth. But that won't happen, believe me.

Of course, it'll still have the MiI and serial number on the back of the head and the big SQUIER named neck plate - but hey, I might fool someone into buying a one-off experimental Fender Skunkworks bass ---- if I ever sold it, that is.

Nice dog though - if it were my dog, it'd be a blur no matter the ISO; my dog won't sit still and even sleeping it's in motion.

Damn that's a long message to send from an iphone.
So, you checked prices and found you couldn't afford a real Fender. Then you went out and counterfeited a Fender using cheap parts and a forged label. This because you want people to think you own something you can't or won't afford.
Sounds par for the course.
I don't own anything of the kind. Love Leo's designs though! I just don't see what the big deal is if someone builds themself a bass and puts a logo on it. Nobody getting ripped off, just someone building a bass and putting a logo on it. Did Fender ( and any other manufacturer ) start going door to door and disassembling instruments? No. Why? No money in that! If some one tried to dupe a product for profit then they would. Thats my point. I could care less.
Naaah, I explained in my previous post that I own a Fender Deluxe Jazz Bass MIM and my neck just wasn't working fine. So I tried what you read before and decided to get the Allparts neck. But I DO own an original 2000 MIM Fender J.
And that $700 USD + shipping costs price was just for a neck. So total it would have been like $800 USD and for that price I would have buy another bass.
I have a Fender decal on my Mighty Mite Jazz bass. For me, it's mostly a tribute to the Jazz Bass itself. I tell everyone that it's a parts bass that I made and it's not an actual Fender. For me, I like the way the logo looks. I've drooled over Fenders since I was a kid and that headstock with that logo carries a feeling along with it. So I never considered NOT putting one on there.
That being said, I would NEVER try to pass it off as a Fender. Not that I would ever sell it (I'm hoping to give to my son or daughter one day). But IF I did, I would sell it for what it is.

I will trade you 4 Squier basses with Fender logos for your dog!
I am in the middle of an EPIC Precision bass build. It is a total mutt RAGER and I would never put a Fender logo on this thing, because I made it, not Fender.

Yes, as long as you get the decal from Fender or an authorized dealer and not a counterfeiter.

I'm pretty sure Fender parts have Fender on them already... If they don't, as many have mentioned, you can take it to a Fender dealer to have them authenticate it and get the necessary decals.
I've seen quite a few Fender parts instruments made of bits and pieces from several older or vintage instruments being sold as original factory assemblies.
This thread is funny as hell. No matter how much people argue on here, people are gonna do what they are gonna do, whether it be Fender decals on their Allparts necked SX's, driving faster than the speed limit, defrauding tax law by not claiming gigs(getting paid w/ cash), squeezing their toothpaste from the top of the tube, etc.....
