recommend me a good 5 string set

I like Lakland 5 mediums with the B tapered (to string through the body) and D'Addario XL's for more of a jazz bass tone. Ken Smith strings are also fine and all three are relatively inexpensive and have long life. I find DR's to be good strings, but IMO the ones mentioned above play better...

    JO5/Audere impressions

Your bass looks fantastic. Something about a sunburst J bass! Did you run into any issues regarding the Audere cover not fitting properly over the pots cavity? An Audere rep told me the fit may not be very good. Couldn't understand it, so I passed. Would love to have one, though. Thanks

Why are vacuums so popular? (Tim Commerford and Juan Alderete content)

I had to change the 6550's in my Roomba and have it biased, cost me $150. Now that sucked!

    Worship Bassists Unite

I'd like a number also! Naples Christian Church in Naples, Florida. I use the basses shown on my avatar with a Line 6 XT Pedalboard for the effects into a Sansamp RBI, then into the P.A. Works great!! There are too many great Christian bands out there to mention writing excellent...

bass guitar question, if i may.

Hey Mo, I have a V M J B. Plays ok, tuners and bridge are cheaper but it stays in tune fine. Didn't have quite enough bottom end so I put Fender Custom Shop J Bass pickups in it. They dropped right in. Plays good, sounds great for around $350. Depending on what you can afford, you can...

    Lakland dissapointment!!

Mullet, E-mail Kirk or Brian at Lakland.com they'll probablly respond within a few hours. I bought a DJ 4 from Musicians Friend that just was a wreck! After explaining my problem they issued me a return authorization number and I sent it back. They completely went through it and when I got...

    Poll: Average Age?

51, played since I was 11. My older brother, who I wanted to be like, also played bass then. Played alot of cool vintage stuff when it was new. Also had the opportunity to see (hear) music, and the electric bass evolve. Had a great time through an interesting era. Wouldn't trade it!

I bought a scratch n dent Squire modified jazz bass and put on Fender custom shop pickups and it sounds great/plays good at $325.

Just how much respect bass players DON'T get

You're right Steve, I don't think I can call out too many current other musicians the didn't play in the 70's and early 80's and who aren't Christian players. But there's one thing I do know, thats (1.)the ENTIRE band follows the drummer and I (including the vocals) 2. without us there is no...

The Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club

Add one more! I played at several churches in the Naples, Florida area for awhile now. There is no higher calling than playing a part in changing someone's life in helping bring them to the Lord! He blesses those who praise him! Go Jona!

Squier VM or Fender MIM Standard P?

I had a MIM jazz bass that sounded good by itself, but couldn't cut through the band. I currently own a vintage mod fretless. Buy the Squire

    Picking Out New Bass!

I checked "other" also, but for the same money couldn't you get a "Geddy Lee" signature J bass?

    Behringer a SOLID name?

I own an EP 1500 which I originally bought as a monitor amp, but after I sold my SVTII (because of it's weight) I went to an SVP-Pro, the EP 1500 and a Schroeder 1210 and I must say it sounds great. I usually play churches where they have P.A.'s but when I do use it out I ALWAYS take a backup...
