I had that problem with my 76 p-bass. Changed the nut to graphite. Put on a BadAss bridge. Put a Dimarizo P-bass pick in. Never had a problem with getting buried again. That bass had massive tone. Hope it's doing well for the bastard who stole it!

I had an SVT II years ago. Can't beat that tone. That was back when I was young and could carry that monster. Now I use a tone hammer 350 and an ampeg porta flex 15. I run to the board and back through the monitors. People laugh until they hear how it sounds.

I had a trace back in the 90s. I bought it for smaller gigs then. It had no tone to me. Sounded like a brick. Went back to dragging my SVT pro 2and 8X10 cab. Really hated that Trace .

Why run 2 cabs? I have a TH 350. I run it through an ampeg porta flex 15. I also run direct to the board and have it cranked through the monitors. That is a great sounding head. I was really surprised how well that little monster sounds. You can try a second cab. It's just going to spread out...

It's really up to you. I use a brass pick, a felt pick and a heavy Dunlop pick. I don't use them that often. Depends on what the song calls for. If you don't feel like playing with a pick dont. Do you record your practices?

Open Mic nights are the best learning experience you can have as a musician. Nothing more exciting to me than jamming with total strangers. It will really boost your improv game! Great way to network too!

Just ask the people in the nursing homes. They can give you the best ideas. I wouldn't sing songs about death though. Most of them don't need to be reminded of the next step of evolution. Keep it happy!
