    Anybody won a Gear Giveaway?

Years ago I entered and won a contest sponsored by BBE (parent company of G&L now). I got an email with a phone number and my winning was confirmed. I got several different choices and I went with a BBE 3 way crossover with Sonic Maximizer. I still use it with my PA. Good Fortune for me.

    I just hate bass strings

Try DR Stringlife. Costs about $6. Does extend string life and a bottle lasts a long time.

wives vs basses (shhhhh! don't let them see this thread!)

I have many basses and my wife has lots of shoes. I tell my wife that when I die the basses are a type of 401K, whereas if she should pass before me, the shoes will all be worthless.

What do you do besides playing music?

I enjoy fountain pens, cigars and firearms.

    Using a B string “correctly”

I play a 5 most of the time in church. The worship leader loves the 'D' on the 'B' string for the opening measures of a few songs. I must admit, it does fill the room gloriously. It is my favorite note on the 'B' string. I run thru an RNDI and a Trace Elliot Dual Compressor then into the...

A poll that all members MUST participate in (including lurkers)...

I don't use one. My bass teacher didn't use one with my lessons years ago, so for me I guess it would be in the useless camp.

Have you regretted selling a bass in the past.

I regret trading a '65 Fender Bass VI. It was hand painted white when I got it and I had it Fender factory refinished in sunburst. When I got a '66 Precision, I stopped playing it. I traded it for an inexpensive SLR camera. I know I wouldn't play it much, but I sure wish I had it back...

What is your favorite bass strap?

El Dorado hand tooled leather straps. Beautiful but expensive. They will not wear out and I find them to be comfortable. It's such a personal thing (beauty and comfort).

    Fly Dates and Bass Cases

I have traveled many times to Europe from So. Cal. with my bass in the SKB Bass Safe. I have never been charged an oversize fee.

A stunning experience AKA first time playing a Sadowsky

I just got back from a country gig in England and the bass player for the opening act on Friday came up and wanted to look at my pedalboard. He had never heard his amp sound that good. It was a GK amp and cab. What he didn't probably realize is that it was my Sadowsky MS5 that was changing...

    Fly Dates and Bass Cases

I've flown from LAX to the UK & Europe and back more than a dozen times with my Sadowsky 5 in an "incase" armored gig bag (no longer made) in the SKB Bass Vault. I had to remove the foam in the SKB, to make the gig bag fit and I've never had an issue. That gig bag is bullet proof & I'm sorry...
