The build sheet does indeed list Ebony for the fretboard. I agree that it's a bit lighter than I expected, but still has the very dense grain and surface texture I'd expect more from ebony. I am curious though, is there a way to reliably identify a lighter ebony sample compared to rosewood...

Here you go. Mine came with a right angle power cord, which makes a big difference IMO. It's noticeable if you're paying attention but definitely not too ridiculous.
