j-retro is the best JAZZ bass pre...now for pickups...big singles sound relly big with big earthquaking low-end but it´s dark sunding...aero(my favorites) are awesome to me are perfect (my personal taste) very agressive growly great low-end...fralins traditional great sounding...nordstrans...

man you can´t go wrong with the retro preamp it´s great very tranparent i have audere it´s good but really don´t like very much the presets sounds but it sounds good...my vote is to east pre they are great i got two of them the j-retro and the u-retro deluxe 5 kobs....AWESOME

norstrand is great but sadowsky tone is lovely amazing

great just what ithe threat i was looking for...bassist of the world a great pickups is not just a big output pickups it have to mix great with the band and really i preffer aclear sound more slappy when you have a claer sound you can give it more lows mids or highs series is a interesting mode...

man you have to put the j-retro that pre is great for the darryl jones audere is good but retro and jones kills....

aeros are great just my sound can be agressive or nice vintage...fralins are good even better if they have 5% more wiring...my vote is for aeros great lows powerfull mids agressive higs just great

the question is why not...nordstrand are professional pickups they will make a great work

well i´m happy with my nordstrand 4.2 its great it has all the sounds it can be vintage to modern its perfect to me...mmm ibut if you want something very hi-fi or modern i think delano is your pickup the MC4 they have the AL alnico version or the FE ceramic more hi-fi...i think the sound has to...

man the nordstrand and the east pre is a killer combination it´s so powerfull you will be extremely happy with that bartilini CB MM are good but nordstrand 4.2 has more precense really great pickups and east pre make even better NORDSTRAND-EAST thats the combo bro

between bartolini and nordstrand i prefeer nordstrand the low-mids are huge for me nice clear powerfull sound i love my 4.2 and man it can sound very varm or really hi-fi...the bartolini CB series are the best on the bartolini pickups galery but i keep on nordstrand by the way mine is wired...

i agreed the sound clips on basstasters are too dark my nordstrand is claer bright and punchy i love it in combination with the nj4se and the u-retro pre get´s me an amazing sound...between vintage and modern
