Hello! My Ampeg SVT CL does the following. When I start playing, it sounds normal. Great! However, few notes in (usually if I dig in a little bit) the sound changes on its own. It goes from EQ at noon to almost a smiley face EQ type of sound, with hissing included. Not great! And then it goes...

My AVRI 63 p-bass sounded quite unbalanced through an amp. Pickup swapped to a Lollar and what a difference! I guess the stock was just a bad one, I’ve had the same pickup as the AVRI on some other bass and it was great.

You’re right, the output isn’t as aggressive as some other p-basses. I noticed the same thing.

It’s here! I might say that this is propably one of the best basses I’ve ever had.

I’ve had two different ’58 AVRIs. Both were great, lightweight and well built. Shouldn’t have sold them!
