    Second-ever bass build (9-strings!)

Thanks for advice and positive comments guys! It will definitely be a difficult process, but hopefully with the advice of TB Luthiers this will be turned into an awesome instrument. I'm thinking I'll go with a 16.5mm string spacing for this. My current main bass (Spector Rex Pro 5) has a .66" =...

    Second-ever bass build (9-strings!)

Widening the treble side is definitely something I'm planning on doing on the final design. Also, I should be able to get a four and a five string pickup to use, instead of trying to make two five string pickups work (which is how the pickups on the model are drawn).

    Second-ever bass build (9-strings!)

Sorry it's been so long since I last posted on this thread, I haven't made very much progress recently. Things should picking up soon, however. After getting in contact with LMI, they have agreed to send me some of the materials for the bass, even though they no longer offer the scholarship I...

    Second-ever bass build (9-strings!)

Wow, thanks for all the advice! I really appreciate it. I definitely am planning to move the pickup to the P-Bass position, the pickup placement on the drawing was a result of some bad math. The pickup will be two humbuckers wired like a P-Bass pickup. I'm hoping to use EMGs, but I need to...

Anyone have a guide on connecting a singlecut upper wing to the neck? Any help would be appreciated with this.

    Second-ever bass build (9-strings!)

Hello TalkBass Luthiers, my name is Evan Atchison. I'm 16 years old and a junior in high school. This thread will be a documentation of my second ever bass build in my Construction class. My first build was a four-string fretless. I've run into some problems trying to finish it, and will...

    Source Audio Sourcerers Society (S.A.S.S.)

Some YouTube videos with tips on what settings work well and how to use all of the different features would definitely be helpful. The manual does a good job explaining things but having audio examples would really help. The current videos work well to demo the pedals, but something more...

    SPECTOR® Club - Part 38

Wow, that is a lot of awesome Spectors. The bass in the far back, with the maple fretboard and black inlays, is that a prototype for the new Rebop with the MM pickup? It's hard to tell but it looks pretty similar.

Show your video! --You on Youtube Part 3

Here's me doing a bass cover of Hysteria by Muse for my high school talent show a few months ago, plus a little bass solo at the end I came up with. Not the best quality unfortunately, but it was filmed by my dad from the audience with a hand-held camera...

    SPECTOR® Club - Part 37

Wow, that's crazy low. It looks like you have flats on there, I would think it be impossible to get that low with rounds - Although it is a USA Spector, so I don't know. I played a Warrior at a Guitar center in California recently that was set up like that; crazy low action with flats. It played...

    SPECTOR® Club - Part 37

That's how my Performer was, it's never needed to be adjusted. The Rex, on the other hand, was bought used from a Guitar Center in California, and the Southern California climate is pretty different from the Colorado climate, so it needed some set-up. This is the only bass I've ever really done...

    SPECTOR® Club - Part 37

Wow, I go on a trip for a week and a half and we're through another thread and a new model has been announced, this club moves fast! I got to play a Euro 4LX at the Hollywood Guitar Center, which was my first experience with a Euro. The neck felt great, the action was nice and low, and...
