You're right. Crap. It's like Jaymi said: it's a bad time of year to try and sell stuff. Have you had any hits on your satin black LX? You think my pricing on mine is okay?

Your pricing is great for a buyer. That is a lot of bass for the money. Someone is going to be loving that one....hope it brings another into our lair.

I've had some tire kicker's on Sam's old Euro. I did another setup today on that bass though and think I may put the ad on ice for a while. I plays so much better now. I might revisit the idea of throwing in a Haz. I go different directions on that bass every other day.

Hey Steve - did you get my reply to your GK questions in the last thread that was closed out? Didn't want you to think I was ignoring you.

I am loving the tone and feel of the JAR. Lightest Spector I have ever played@ 8.1lbs. Extremely punchy. I thought the EMG BT circuit was a little too polite. The TP took care of that nicely. Now it's mean and growley , if you need it to be.

Next, in a couple of months will be the Diechris tribute model. The silverburst! Using this CRFM as the foundation.

NICE Mr. Bassie! :D

Perhaps! Just not the one currently listed. ;)

Just to let you guys know, I still have the non drip Webster for sale that I put up pics of on the last thread. Jaymi asked me to hold it for him until I meet him on 7/25 to give him back his computer. He wants to try it with an eye towards buying. But if he decides not to, I'll put notice back on the thread here before going to the classifieds. It's one of the "Amazon" basses that I got paid with. The only thing I've done to it is put Sadowsky steels on it, got it a pro set up, got a new Spector gig bag for it and put in two fresh duracells. The emg bqc sounds wonderful so i saw no need to do a smadder setup on it. It's new out of the box and sounds fantastic. In my opinion, the Webster neck should be the standard for all euro 5s. It feels that good. I'm even going to have my tech take measurements and have my forte 5 neck shaved down a bit to match it. It's that great. Let me know if you're interested in being second in line after Jaymi to call dibs on it. I'm asking for $1500 shipped USA, but am a little flexible. New the best you can get is between $2300 and $2399 so I feel like $1500 shipped is a very good deal on a brand new AW.

As some of you may remember, since my first Spector purchase back in December of last year where I snagged a great deal on a mint REX5 Holoflash, I've been bitten by the Spector bug. The REX is a fantastic bass and a real keeper but will remain very much dedicated to my metal and heavy/acid rock set list. I've been looking for a soft spoken soulmate for the REX with a less agressive body style and softer tone. Think Timothy B. Schmidt vs Rex Brown.
Well, long story short - I've tried every Legend, Rebop, NS variant and LX I could get my hands on. All sounded great (some more so than others) but none were a disticnt departure from the Rex.
Then I came across a Spectorcore and Bingo - that's the bass style, look and tone that I've searching for. Now the problem is I don't want one in Amber, I like the darker body colors (i.e. Blackcherry, Black, Blackblue) and ideally 5 string fretted. To get that it looks like I'm going to have to go the used route which is ok if it's VG to Mint condition. I did find one on a Chicago craigslist that might fit the bill but I don't do Craigslist unless it's local (Cincinnati). I'll buy from a TB member with good feedback or from someone that a TB member can vouch for or from Guitar Center or Sam Ash or a local guitar store but I'm done with eBay and craigslist.
So - I'm unleashing the Spector dawgs on this hunt - I'll give a $100 finders fee to the first person that can provide a lead to a nice Spectorcore 5 string bass if it ends up being purchased by me. PM me if you have a lead that you think fits the bill.
Hopefully there's no TB rules against that - if so please consider this offer null and void.
(in my best British voice)...Release the hounds!

I think a certain "pale aquatic mammal" would look extra sweet sitting on that couch! :ninja:

<Sigh> I wish. I was never the biggest fan of white but lately, I have to say, I am really becoming a fan of it.

But see, if he adds the white, then he has to add a black one for that "yin yang" effect. :)

Yeah, that could be the Alex Webster one :crying: I am lucky it is not February or both of those basses would have been purchased since that is the month I get both my tax return and also my bonus from work.

john your 2 USA basses look so perfect next to each other

Thanks Donny. Yeah, there is no way I could split those two up at this point. I love the finish on them and they are both amazing basses.

What do you guys feel is the difference in sound with the new emg-X pickups vs the old ones?

This is what I said about them in a post on the last thread. I sold a bass to Jaymi and ynot12 with them so you can ask their opinions as well:

Completely different internal preamp with a broader frequency range and more headroom. I spoke with their tech support before installing them and they run so broad and high that you aren't supposed to use more than 9v with them. They still have the hi fi sound of EMGs but a little less compression and more openness. Almost like passive pickups, you can hear more of the wood. They run hot but sound fantastic. A set of pjx's in a Spector really opens up the tone and almost makes it sound more "Spectorish."

That is a great deal! You'll move it for sure. The more I look at the splatter the more I like it, but they're both awesome.

So many kick ass Spectors in play right now!

Not the original Dimarzio's, these are the old ones from the late 70's, back when they still said "patent applied for" on them, the real deal and monstrous sound.

As far as I know it is only in recent years you could get Dimarzio pickups in a color other than cream, all the vintage instruments I've seen with Dimarzios were this color.

(plus the original NS-2 basses had these exact cream-colored ones in them [Invalid or Expired Link Removed])

I could conceivably buy new Model P+J's in black, but I don't think they sound as fat as the originals, and they are less growly in my experience.

I love the looks of the original NS-5! Especially those awesome inlays!

So are you keeping the Forte 5 now? I probably missed a bunch of posts because work has been nuts but I thought you were keeping the Alex Webster and ripping out the BQC to install your special setup since you didn't need the mid control of the BQC.

That probably means you aren't selling that BQC then :bawl: No worries, I will pickup a BQC Control from Best Bass Gear since that is all I would need to put in my NS-JH5 since I need to keep the dual volume knobs currently in the bass due to the push/pull for the TW pickup.

I didn't get a chance to read them yet. But I know from past posts that the 800RB is your go to benchmark for amps. I just wondered if the 800mb stacked up.

And have you seen the upcoming fusion 800mb? Same fusion all tube preamp in the size form factor of the 800mb. That's amazing.

But yeah, I am strongly considering trying out the 800mb. I can always return it if it isn't what I'm looking for. The Shuttle 6.2 I have is awesome. It's one of the best amps I've owned. But I desperately need an active/passive pad on the input. The signal from the smadder setup is so hot that I get input clipping and it limits the volume I can get out of it. Doesn't happen with any other bass (even the Webster) or other amps I've tried that have an input pad. So that's why I'm looking around.

Yeah, chuckles convinced me that the forte was the better one to hold onto. And to be honest, I just don't dig high gloss black finishes. I like the satin/matte black look, but not high gloss. It's too much of a finger print magnet for me. And I'm leaving the AW as is so no BQC on hand at the moment. However! Please PM me before purchasing. I can help you get a better deal from BBG.

Awesome Spector growl presence throughout seventh! Well done! You look less nervous this time out too! \m/

:) thanks, though I was REALLY nervous this time! Most of the people in the crowd were there to see me for the first time :D So that gave it a bit more edge :bassist:

Oh...and don't sell your 810! :D
