Dude. Sad you're parting with it. But let me say... I love that color. It's a beautiful bass. Best wishes for a quick sale to someone who'll appreciate what a beauty that bass is.

I feel him on a bass sitting at home not played... I love my rex but with my euro and soon ns6xl I hardly picked it up.... if mines doesn't sell in a month i'm donating it to my tattoo artist to put up in the shop

Well the whole story is:

  • The more I look at this bass the less I want to put it in a frame as a memento. It's an amazing bass and deserves to be rocked by someone who'll love having it.
  • I live in Southern California. I already have to condition my basses necks every month or so because it's so dry. And I do have a humidifier in my office. So I know that once this puppy is behind glass on the wall, it won't be long before it's too dried out to ever restore back to a playing condition. Another thing I'd never want to see.
  • My ARC6 electric guitar that's on order is special. It'll be the first ARC6 with a Floyd Rose Bridge. This requires a new pin route template. Something that can take a long time for Stuart to do. I've been waiting for 8 months. And I could be waiting another 8. And I'm happy with that. It's worth the wait for me to have the first such ARC6. So that means I'm without an electric guitar.
  • I'm spoiled. I had Stuart's personal ARC6-B Prototype at my office for almost a year. I then had the second RX-GT prototype at my office for the past 6-months. I keep getting these awesome Spector USA electric guitars, but they don't belong to me and I have to send them back. Which again leaves me with no electric guitar.
  • I used to have a Fender Custom-Shop Dave Murray Strat. But sold it after playing Stuart's ARC6... The things we find amazing about Spector basses... those things also live in every Spector Electric Guitar. So I want a current/used ARC6 (or ANY USA Series Spector Electric Guitar) to have as a backup to my future ARC6 custom that Stuart's making.
  • There are several USA ARC6 models for sale across the country from used to a few with some Spector dealers. And selling my Alex bass puts me within reach of getting one.
  • I don't play 5-string or else I'd keep this amazing bass and play it. I've got the action and relief set perfectly. The action is so low right now. This bass is begging to be played.

So I talked with PJ and he's OK with me selling it to get another Spector... and after hanging with PJ for a week and playing every guitar and bass in his impressive collection, he looked at me and said, "So basically you're a guitarist." LOL. And he's right.

I LOVE bass. But I play bass like a guitarist. Which is why I like doing the solo stuff I love to do. I played guitar for 10 years... and I'm shocked after 17 years away from ANY musical instrument how much I've retained. And how quickly my fingers respond the right way (for a guitarist).

I want to be a bassist. I aspire to be a bassist. But I have to admit, picking up a Spector Electric Guitar is like home for me. I hope you guys can forgive me for being honest. So I've got a terminal case of SAS for a Spector Electric Guitar.

So you guys help me out! Be kind to me... I'm a bassist at heart! :bassist:

Actually you can never go wrong just asking PJ first anyway. He'll give you the right answer and possibly save you some time.

Actually you can get replacement necks for any Spector bolt-on... I know that for a fact. It might have to be ordered. But if you want the fasted answer call the Spector 1-800 number tomorrow after 9am EST and ask PJ.

As of last week they where still waiting for a shipment to come in. But I know a Czech shipment recently came in so they may have them in stock now. :bassist:

Thanks, it's really nice, but between my customized NS20004, my NS20005, and my NS-2A with the Spector 9V tone control copy just sounds so beautiful I don't need the Euro

Yeah, I suspect the seller meant to say lined fretless instead of Fretted Fretless. Unless of course it was originally a lined fretless and he had frets installed in it. That could be a Fretted Fretless I supose. I'll call Hanser tomorrow.
Be sure to get Sam in the hunt. I don't think there's an ad for a new or used Spector in NA that hasn't been seen by the heavy hitters here on TB. Chances are if it's out there someone here knows something about it.

Cool, that gives me another option. If all I can find is a used fretless I might be able to get a fretted neck for it and in essence have two basses. I'll talk to PJ to see what kind of damage that'll do to my wallet.

By all means check with PJ, but I wanted to mention that my JA-R had a nice shave as did Donny's jade green CRFM. No issues, everything turned out well. You would have to remove a large amount of wood to expose the truss or the graphite rods. I was present at both shavings and our, very scientific and accurate, method was shave, hand it over and say " How's that?" " Nah, not yet, keep going" until we got there.:) PJ will probaly have exact information that you can use, but like JPS said, its more about the perceived difference between the hard C shape and more of a D shape. If you do go for the shave I am sure you will love it. The neck will be an extension of your playing hand and uber comfortable. Ask Doug Wimbish:hiding:
