    interesting you're using jarrah. will be a heavy wood!. i've read up on jarrah as a tonewood, and perry ornsby seems to be against it. (but he could be wrong lol)

    looks great! thanks for the photos. yeah i was wondering if the gold would have been too tacky but it looks pretty good. i think it blends in well with the tas oak neck and with the grain of the pau ferro. looking forward to the weekend hehe.

    Similar to maple, but more mellow i'd imagine as it is softer. However that point is moot, as the top would be a very thin veneer, probably a 1/4" thick or less.

    thanks for the quick reply. if i were to go with your suggestion, the series/single/parallel, which of the two coils would sound better? and by better i guess 'more similar to a J bass' the soap bars i've got are quad coils, does that make a difference?
