I've tried a bunch and settled on a Tech 21 VT Bass DI. Was not expecting it to sound as good as it does. Whisper quiet and a lot of tone sculpting capabilities.

If you regularly use an instrument (or worse.....gig it), it will get dings. It's a fact of life. I can almost recall the origins of every ding in each of the instruments I own, and in many cases can tell the story of how they got there. Some humorous, like running into a dumpster in a dark...

I find that a caffeine tablet (or a cup of coffee) right before the set begins helps fix those little mistakes. For some reason caffeine really helps me focus much better.

I play bass, guitar, drums, trumpet, and keys proficiently. Bass is by far my favorite. Nothing is better than standing on stage in front of a big bass stack and feeling the energy from your fingers and strings resonating literally right through your body. I love that!

Yes, but the whole thing back-fired on me. I've played lead guitar on and off my whole life, but considered bass my "stage instrument". Not a pro, just weekend warrior stuff doing local clubs,weddings, etc. Rewind two years ago and my wife's cover band simply could not keep a good lead guitar...

I had to replace both the pickup and the pre-amp on my Sub. Pickup change alone didn't do it.

Got mine today. Junk. It's going back. Doesn't track great on fast runs, even with the sensitivity all of the way up. Sounds are just OK....nothing mind blowing. Every once in a while turning the voice selector makes a loud blip come through my bass amp (maybe mine has a bad selector...

Because clearly I'm not as smart as you? :cautious: The amp emits a minor crackle every few minutes, so this doesn't require immediate attention. I have two other amps I can use in the meantime. I'm glad you found it with a google search in 10 seconds. You are my official hero. Shame on me...

I've had exceptional support experiences with both Aguilar and Gallien Krueger. :thumbsup: Edit: Oh, and Mesa.....they have amazing support as well.
