Regarding teaching yourself music is the "wrong" way, Jeff, I have to disagree to a certain extent. Currently I am not in a position to afford a music teacher but I do have access to lots of different jazz books. I use about 3 of those available books to teach myself everything from reading...

I discovered this by accident: If you are in a key of C (A natural harmonic minor) and move up a fifth to a G (E natural harmonic minor), then you get your major scale right there, C as root, E as 3rd, G as 5th. Pretty useful when trying to figure out triads and what not :)

Here in Sydney we don't have GC instead we have Allan's Music, overpriced stuff, VERY rude sales staff :( most of the smaller shops in CBD went into liquidation because of companies like Allan's. (Billy Hydes is not that bad though)

That happens to me from time to time, amazing feeling. Usually what I "see" is just massive waves of sound that crash into me and thats when I start going batpoopie insane :D
