Extra guitar neccessities for either guitarist in my band!

I always have a capo. Never used it for anything on bass, it makes me sharp. Guitard never remembers his. I also have picks, which I never use but come in handy all the time.

guitar strings, bass strings, springs for a guitar trem, earplugs, allen wrenches, a pen and paper, extra cables (15', 1' and connectors), and an extra pedal power connector... Boss chain thingy. Plus other stuff, but this is what remains after I set up my rig.

Two things that I thought I'd never have in my gig bag, but carry regularly:

I have a Ashbory bass - those strange little silicon stringed basses. The strings are crazy sticky, so you gotta put a dab or two of baby powder or corn starch on your hands before you play the bass. The bass came with it's own baby powder, but it ran out quick.

I don't use it much anymore at gigs, but it's ALWAYS in a bag that I bring to practice. We use in-ear monitors at practice, and the ear buds are TIGHT. A drop of a water-based lube (NOT an oil based one) does the trick.

No joke on any of that stuff above...

Apart from the usual spares, tools, and assorted music-related junk in my kit, the only really not-related item that's always with me at shows is a spare knife. A big one, too - a1918 vintage Swiss bayonet.

Effective at close range and less risk of going to jail. A couple of times, just pulling my shirt back to show the handle was enough to defuse the situation.
