The most unusual thing in my gig bag is 1-7/8 chopsticks.
It's left over from the time I had to an at gig repair on our guitarists Strat when he pulled out the strap button, again.
I had told him I'd fix it the last several times it happened but he never gave it to me so this time when we went on break I ran across the street to the Chinese restaurant, dodging traffic in a thunder storm, picked up a pair of sticks, ran back accross the street dodging more rain and traffic, jammed one chopstick in the strap button hole, broke it off flush with the body and screwed the strap button back on with my SAK ("Tinker" model).
They called me McGuyver for several weeks after that. The keyboardist even learned the opening to the McGuyver theme and played it during my band intro a few times.
That was several years ago and I still have the leftover chopsticks in my bag and the strap button hasn't come off since.
