I love all his books. Well organized and structured. My guess is that it is a rhythm study based on a concept of a rest figure. So My advice is to not overthinking about it and Read those examples and May be add some notes like arpeggios or melodic motifs. Have fun

Yes you are right but I was thinking more about the obvious ones especially for someone who doesn't know much about theory ;-). Like VW would say: you can play anything over anything.

Two options here: First one is to stay on the root and let the harmony working on itself with the other instruments. It will be clearer. Second one is to include in your bassline the perfect fifth then add the altered fifth to make it more melodic and organized....if needed ;-)

Make sure you master your rythms reading. To me it is the most important aspect of sight-reading. You shouldn’t have to count at all to succeed reading. So spend some time on rythmic reading first.

Don’t Forget that written music is based 99.9% on key signatures. Learning your scales,arpeggios and patterns based on harmonic material is the key (!) to successfully understand what you are reading. It will help you to find positions and efficient shifts and a better understanding of the neck.
