Since the the traditional 4x10 cab has room to improve with sound dispersion, and a vertical 4x10 is a bit akward in shape, would a staggered 4x10 be a compromise? If they were aligned in a 90 degree layout it would raise the amp height. But would it lessen the effect of the comb filtering?

If I do purchase definitely going to post a review, hopefully it will be a decent kit for the less handy folks wanting to put one together for fun.

Little heavier than expected, and neck didn't feel great in my hands. Not sure if it was the radius or thickness or what. Just didn't feel as comfortable as I imagined.

Yeah if it only needs a touch up on the frets I wouldn't mind that as I'll do my own setup with fresh strings anyway. But something with well worn frets may not be worth it. I don't mind blemishes and such, as long as full playability can be had after setup.

How will I tell if the truss rod works without waiting to see if the neck moved?

I think if you have good technique, that will enhance your tone greatly. So even "bad tone" won't sound terrible. That's why Zakk Wylde and Mike Portnoy sound good on Hello Kitty instruments lol.
