Fender Rumble Club

I seem to remember reading (it could be a false memory ;) )that the Rumble has a passive HPF built in. Is this actually the case?

If so, does anyone know the frequency and slope of this HPF?

The reason I ask is because I have been asked to play some dub with a local band and I use the Meatbox for extra subby-ness. Usually I would take my larger rig (which can get plenty subby) but I would much rather take the rumble (500c) to rehearsal and DI out to the PA.

BTW, I am not expecting the Rumble to produce subwoofer level sounds, I am just worried if the speakers need extra protection.

Yes this is true for all Rumbles. Combined with the Delta-Comp/Limiter it makes Rumbles damn near teenager proof.

That would be one Dave Lewis.

See the Fender Rumble Talk about the Delta-Comp Limiter lnked on the Wiki page.

I had a 500c and added a 2x10, mainly because my OCD couldn't handle the difference is size between the 1x15 and 2x10. It make a big difference in the sound. It isn't that much in volume, but it is fuller. The 2x10 weighs 39 lbs. I don't know the weight of the 1x15.

No OCD here...1-15 on the bottom, on top, a Combo 200 or 500 on its side, preposition a matching Logo on the Combo and your done. In extreme OCD cases one could change the grille cloth on the Combo and add or move a handle or the rubber feet.

Getting back to the issue of "Not a good idea to pair a Rumble 500 head with a 12" speaker"...
I've had no problem with this (or doing it with an even more beastly GK 1001RBII)... you just need to be intelligent about your volume. If you're doing a coffeehouse gig or something -- where a single 12 is perfect -- you don't need the volume which would blow the speaker.
Just my 2 cents.

Here I am the night before last, gigging at a small restaurant. I should have brought my GK Neo 112II instead of the Neo 212II (I had about 3 x 3 feet on which to set up), but the Rumble sounded great. I had my MB200 for a spare. The bass is an SX PJ with the Jazz pickup disconnected and the P pickup replaced with a DiMarzio. Chrome strings. The Rumble 500 provided clear, warm thump. Beautiful!
