Hello, sorry for the dumb question but I'm new to bass equipment. I just ordered a Rumble 500 V3 head & I have heard/read from many people that overdrive is dangerous for tweeters, yet some of these Rumble amps seem to have both overdrive & tweeters. I assume it must be safe to use the amps overdrive with the tweeter engaged then?
In my case, the cabinet I am planning to use the 500 head with is an Epifani UL112 which has a tweeter with adjustable volume/off knob & the cabinet is rated for 350 watts at 8 ohms. Should I be worried about combining the two or do I have to turn the tweeter off to use overdrive?
Welcome Rumbler # 1007! Is that a 15 or an 18 in the Ampeg cab? I'll bet it sounds good. Rumble On!
Welcome Rumbler # 1008! You will love the that head. I've never heard of OD being the cause of tweeter death, but can't say it never happens. The Rumble cabs have tweeters, so that shouldn't be an issue. I will say that many of us don't use the tweeter because it doesn't suit the tone we're after. With only 1 cab, you are only going to get about 350 out of the head, so you are fine on that. Rumble On!Hello, sorry for the dumb question but I'm new to bass equipment. I'll bet you'll be surprised at the bass the 500 can put out.I seem to remember reading (it could be a false memory)that the Rumble has a passive HPF built in. Is this actually the case?
If so, does anyone know the frequency and slope of this HPF?
The reason I ask is because I have been asked to play some dub with a local band and I use the Meatbox for extra subby-ness. Usually I would take my larger rig (which can get plenty subby) but I would much rather take the rumble (500c) to rehearsal and DI out to the PA.
BTW, I am not expecting the Rumble to produce subwoofer level sounds, I am just worried if the speakers need extra protection.
Thanks, 007, gotta like it!! That's a 15 in that cab but it weighs a ton and has a 200W EV speaker. So I either replace the driver with a higher rated one or get another cab. A Rumble 15 cab or the matching 210 will probably be the way to go....or both maybe!!Welcome Rumbler # 1007! Is that a 15 or an 18 in the Ampeg cab? I'll bet it sounds good. Rumble On!
I had a 500c and added a 2x10, mainly because my OCD couldn't handle the difference is size between the 1x15 and 2x10. It make a big difference in the sound. It isn't that much in volume, but it is fuller. The 2x10 weighs 39 lbs. I don't know the weight of the 1x15.Thanks, 007, gotta like it!! Actually, you are. Your number is 961.500-C here. Love this little box of thump. Even learned to love the OD that I was initially unimpressed with. Don't think I'm a club member already.

I never use the tweeters on my 200c(or the 112 cab). It adds 'something' I don't like. I also don't play above the 12th fret except during short passages in a (rare) solo, which is my choice and may tell you something.Hello, sorry for the dumb question but I'm new to bass equipment. Yes this is true for all Rumbles. Combined with the Delta-Comp/Limiter it makes Rumbles damn near teenager proof.I seem to remember reading (it could be a false memory)that the Rumble has a passive HPF built in. Is this actually the case?
That would be one Dave Lewis. If so, does anyone know the frequency and slope of this HPF?
Use someone else's bass amp. Bring a fire extinguisher. The Meatbox put out a ridiculous amount of lows at 30Hz which can be pretty danegerous for cabs. They don't call it the PA killer for no reason![]()
