Two Hand Tapping - Sound better Guitar or Bass?

Learning curve and cost are remarks most Stick players would agree with...Skype lessons are readily available, but it's not quite the same as being in a room with the instructor, and cost of the instrument is what it is. Generally speaking though, reliability shouldn't be on one's "con" list...

    Tilt back advice

I have a Markbass CMD-102p. Playing a Chapman Stick through it, both melody and bass sides of the instrument (Stick -> fx -> mixer -> CMD-102p input). Love the amp, but I haven't played out with it and am somewhat new. I have a couple of varieties of venues I'll be playing at in the near...

Official Markbass Club - the beat goes on, and on....

Just picked up a new CMD-102P from GC. Anyone else ever run both sides of a Chapman Stick through one of these? This CMD-102P fits right in with my efforts to keep things light and simple for quick load-in/out...small pedal board that fits in the Stick case, plus a light amp that projects...

    Zoom MS-60B (part 2)

I'm looking at this pedal to use on the bass side of my Chapman Stick. At this time, my effects chain is just an MXR M87 (in use very infrequently) and a Boss GEB7 (in use most of the time). From there into an instrument input of a small mixer. Would I be crazy to replace the two of these...

First day of forming a new band

Do bars and restaurants in Greece shut down for August also? Would I need to cook for myself all month? What good is an August furlough if I can't go out for a meal and take in a few tunes from a band at the local equivalent of a bar and grill? I guess I just think of entertainers and food...

How do you price a wedding?

Small note on the site: the pics of the band members are too tall to fit on the screen on my system. I can either see the top of your head or your name, but not both. Firefox 30.0/Vista.

    The Fifths Tuning Club

Very valid. I doubt I have much expertise to share, given that I've only been at it a couple years. I'd probably be reluctant to use fifths on a BG, so I violate the "adventurous spirit" of most of the rest of you. But I'll be paying attention just the same. :D

    The Fifths Tuning Club

Just found this thread. Does my Chapman Stick count? :-) Most Sticks have the bass side tuned in fifths, CGDAE.

Got Momma a gig for her birthday

I'm just a lurker, but I gotta say: this is a great post. Awesome from start to finish, man...old pics, new pics, story. Made my day. Thanks.

    Definition of "new"

Yes, I suppose that's what I'm asking about. This functionality is new to me...I don't recall ever using a forum that applies a time limit to "new". If there's a way to change it, I'd like to learn how.

    Definition of "new"

Is there a way to define what a "new" post is? It seems that posts are marked unread only if they are new and less than maybe 6 or 8 hours old. If I read the forum in the evening, then check again at noon the next day, there are a lot of threads with new postings since I was last online that...

    New from SW Washington state

Hi there. I'm not a bassist per se, rather I have a Chapman Stick I've been learning to play for a couple of years. One of the things that attracted me to the Stick was seeing it used in a bass role by folks such as Tony Levin and Nick Beggs. I've found my way here a time or six as I've...
