Zoom MS-60B (part 2)

I noticed that too on my B3.
Some effects induce a big change of eq. It can be a huge mid hump or scoop or a big cut in the lows. So I don't use it anymore with one effect I engage or cut.
I create 2 adjacent patches with for example a comp and an amp sim.
In one of the 2 patches I add the effect I want and then adjust the eq of the amp sim to get a global tone that sounds right to my ears when I compare it to the patch without the effect.
Hope it makes sense for you.
A great tool if you want to use only an effect that you engage during à song when you were playing without any effect is to create an empty patch and then another patch with the effect + the AcBsPre to eq it right. The AcBsPre is very complete to shape a sound.

I'm looking at this pedal to use on the bass side of my Chapman Stick.

At this time, my effects chain is just an MXR M87 (in use very infrequently) and a Boss GEB7 (in use most of the time). From there into an instrument input of a small mixer.

Would I be crazy to replace the two of these with an MS-60B? Main goal would be to shrink pedal board and maybe take advantage of a new effect or two.

Setlist helps a lot of which patches to switch between.

Yea...my group calls a lot on the fly. So a basic patch with a few alternate effects seems to be the best route for me. I run dirt from my SA pedal.

This pedal would probably totally eliminate both of those pedals. It has a built in graphic EQ, several preamps and compressors as well. You'll be more than suited with the MS-60b.

Just got mine yesterday (picked it up used on the 'bay for $55+shipping). I'm really digging this thing it sounds great and is easy to use. Sure it has it's limitations but all things considered I thing it's a tremendous bang for your buck and makes a welcome addition to anyone's board. I put mine at the end up the signal chain and it plays well with my other pedals. No noticed tone suck or background noise.

so Im really trying to nail down that Mudvayne tone with the zoom. Primarily using the SVT sim with moderate settings as you start getting close to diming any of the settings it really seems to start sounding digital. I may need to drop the SVT sim out of the patch or use the other sims, haven't tried that, anyway, also using the db compressor but before I get to the grinding, loud without sounding loud, tone that I hear in a lot of their videos it seems to get too squished. Any ideas? I don't have the pedal with me so I cant give you my exact settings, but can later.

Try layering the SVT with one of the other patches to get the grind you need. A real SVT doesn't sound that great dimed, either.

Is it possible that you're scooping the mids too much? Compression should be used to even out the peaks, not to push your bass out front. The mids are where it's at for projection and loudness.

Ok I am really liking this pedal more and more. I've copied some real, cool patches from this thread, especially from jumblemind and I have it dialed in for gigs. I do you the MXR M87 Compressor with it and that's it. With this I replaced 6 individual pedals including a tuner. My board now consists of compressor, zoom and G50 wireless. I just grabbed a second one for home practice.

I'm also considering grabbing a second one. Mainly in the event one takes a _ _ _ _ during a show. This also will give me the opportunity to change between patches quickly. Meaning, I only use two patches currently which mirror each other tone wise, one just adds delay. I use the A & B opting to switch quickly between these patches during songs where I only need delay in a couple parts. If I add a C or D patch with entirely different tones, it will take way too much time switching to/from the delay patch back to my basic tone. Hope this makes sense......

.
Last week I bought my first all-tube bass head.
I've now cut back on the effects I need/use in my MS60-B patches.
I still run either the SVT or Bassman effects, but both are set dead flat in their EQ settings. I just use the cabinet sims at varying Mix levels.

An example of the order of effects I'm running now in one of the patches in my MS60-B:

1. ZNR: THRSH 11, GtrIn, Level 110 (used essentially as an overall gain control as needed)
2. B-Man: Bass 0, Mid 0, Treble 0, Mid_F 300Hz (irrelevant!), Gain 20, Level 100, Deep OFF, BM 4x12, Mix 100
3. 160 Comp: THRSH -15, Ratio 4.0, Gain 9, Knee Hard, Level 110
