    Favorite bargain basses lately

for me it used to be T-40’s. But now at $800+ I’m no longer considering that a “bargain”. But foundations and fury’s seem to fit the bill at the $350 range. I used a fury to try various PUP variations and ended up with my favorite P bass ( Bill Lawrence pups ). It was VERY much an...

What bass have you owned the longest and do you still play it?

This is my 1981 T-40. Bought it in ‘81. Still play it. Although I normally play 5ers now. And I have some alternate T-40’s or others to play out so my original is not put in “harms way” very often! I played and borrowed lots of basses back in the 80’s … but bang for the buck … I liked...

IEM Newbie, Any words of wisdom from the clan?

This is great advice. Cutting rather than boosting will save ur ears! I keep bass out of my IEMS. And use my bass monitor. And dial everyone else down to a pleasant low volume mix. It’s great. Cutting others down so you can hear only what you need is on point.

    Incoming NBD: 1972 P bass

I have a buddy with a 75 P w/ BA 2 bridge. I love that thing as is! I would recommend playing it for a while. changing pups to find ur favorite tone. I put Bill Lawrence in mine and love them. I had planned to restore refinish my '69J ... but I'm glad I never did ... I just put on a new...

    Peavey foundation owners

kodiakblair nailed response. I have several original MI USA Fender Jazz basses. They're great and I like them. And some people like to see that Fender logo on the headstock. But bang for the buck I'd take a USA Foundation hand's down. I have several foundation 5's and a whole group...

Sorry! I guess I should have been a member since 1981? But I didn't know this club existed. I'm old ... and probably not smart enough to navigate this site/forum properly. Over the years I've gotten great info from this site from crazy smart members. I learned about compressors almost...

I completely agree!!! The T-20 is great as is. I really like the foundation stock pickups. And to me the T-40/45 and cirrus needs to stay unmolested. I've heard good things about the EMG Geezer ... I had planned to purchase those as well to see how they compared with the BL. (I wasn't...

I normally like everything stock. But for whatever reason … I wanted to test bill lawrence pups prior to upgrading a pricey fender. The fury was basically brand new old stock. Mint. Still packing and case candy with it. Once I got those pups installed and played it a few times. I sold...

Well ... the patriot I used to play frequently ... but I gave it to a "youth" that was substituting for me on occasion. He still has it and I think still plays it when he's not playing guitar. It sounded and played great ... if I ever stumble across one that plays well I'd jump on it. I...

    Save Me From Myself

Some 800rb love here (there's plenty on this site about 800rb's) ... I play through a house system usually so my 800 rb sits unused at the house most of the time. But the last time we played in a gymnasium ... I brought my swr henry, 800rb and an mb-200. We a/b'd the two heads during sound...
