I was 9
Piano at a school concert.:D
I made mistakes everywhere.
Nothing's changed 31 years on:o
But...That's live performance. I've always loved playing gigs.:)
Ugg boots > Black leather pants with cod piece ( a chrome one ) and Cannibal Corpse t shirt...
Or
You could just wear something smart but casual. Jeans, collared shirt, leather shoes/boots etc.
Ask them what is required for the gigs.
:D
Don't let guitarists organise gigs. They're bloody hopeless.:rollno::D
You organise the gigs, then you tell your drama queen guitarist 'what time to be where'.
And, never expect anyone else to collect/set up your rig. Especially a guitarist ;)
We are a three piece rock band. Drums guitar and bass with three vocal mics.
Most of the venues we play at have some form of noise restrictions so we use a pretty simple vocal PA. 1200watt poweramp, drive rack, mixer, two 12" two way boxes two 12" two way wedges.
We have two light racks with...
Guitarist/singer:
"You don't have to take the first one...
As we do more gigs and get bigger, the chicks'll be flingin themselves at us from everywhere"
:hyper:
:D
One might be interested to know, that the most interesting bassplayer in the world, may not have any interest in displaying how interesting they are to any interested party.
Interestingly enough, they may be more interested to just, bask in their own self interest.
Drummer: *To the audience halfway through song last set*
"Can you people stop dancing, we wanna go home"
Drummer:
"This next songs about viagra, it's called... 'All the small things' "
I use a peavey roadmaster tube head for bass. Early to mid 80s, 160watt.
Absolute beast of an amp.
Some of the old 70s-80s peavey gear was stellar.
Cheers
Just about all my bass amps have been guitar amps.
I've used a hiwatt dr103, soundcity 120, a mesa boogie mk111, a little Australian amp called a Vase trendsetter which is 40watts and I currently use an 80s peavey roadmaster rated at 160watts.
I can't speak highly enough of the peavey. It's...
Years ago I hated distorted bass. I was a hifi dude then into labsytems stuff, GK, Jazz an happy slap playing and the swanky sugar and spice all things nice sounding gear.
One day i played through a hiwatt 200 and a couple of ev tl boxes, the next day the labsystems was up for sale.
I hate...
Song 2 = absolute pile of dog crap.
Every rose has its thorn = nauseating
Desire by U2 would be my least favourite song in our current set lists. Working very hard to get it ditched.
The lads in my band have been told that if they want to play 'Play that funky music', the door won't hit...
If things take a turn for the worst and you hit the road, give them a written letter of resignation stating your case, get them to sign a copy of that letter so that they can't say that you're the bad guy and you ditched them.
Good Luck
I think I'd ask for progressive payments and full payment for services thus far. Hit them up for their share of fuel money as well.
If that hits the too hard basket then I would assume that alternative transportation shouldn't be a problem as they have so many 'contacts'.
