Fender American Standard Jazz 5 Black/Black/Maple Perhaps a 2008, I haven't tried it yet, I really like the S1 switch on the 5er though.

Though, as a mainland European, this is rather useful, I've seen a new Fender American Std. Jazz for 830 euros including shipping which is about 329 euros cheaper than elsewhere. I'm so GASsing for one right now, it's not even funny anymore. :bawl:

What? I've imported a bass from Japan and haven't had any trouble with that. Also, due to the high-valued euro, buying a bass from the UK is a good alternative, Fender MIA Standard Jazz costs ~1200 euros, while the same thing from the UK including shipping costs ~970 euros, importing the same...

Actually it also depends on what kind of punk you're talking about. If you're talking about the "classical" punk sound go fat, lots of bass and lose some of the mids. If you're talking about a more gritty punk so, you could try dropping the bass (even to 0) and raising the mids and treble(even...

I think I know what you mean, on low volume everything sounds thin, but if you crank it up, it starts sounder better, but unfortunatly, that's too loud to play in a bedroom.

The Skylines have a very good name, Invalid Link Removed page is about the differences between them. Also, if you don't like active basses, you might wanna try a Fender American Jazz 2008, they have passive electronics and seem to be of high quality.

I'm going for two, the slap gave it away the last time on the Markbass/SWR/Ampeg comparison. And 2 sounded a bit deeper to me. But I have to say, it's so close, if even us bassists have a hard time telling the different after numerous tries, that Tech 21 VT is pretty awesome. I'm buying it...

Though I haven't played any maple necks yet... someone here posted a comparison using the same bass but different necks. The maple IMHO did have more "bite" to it but it was only noticable towards the higher end. Of course, YMMV, but maybe you could try digging up that old thread and giving...

To be honest, I think I wouldn't be able to play as fast and dexturous with those as with regular picks.
