I haven't had the chance to play either, although I've considered getting an LB20 myself. Personally, I'll always go for a thru-neck, given the choice. Better sustain, stronger design. MP

I noticed my 4003 was a little neck-heavier than anything I had played before, but neck dive? I don't think so. somebody stole it tho, now I've got a 4004 cii. No neck heaviness there. First thoughts? Coolest freakin' bass on the planet. A growl like no other!

The neck should have a date stamped on the end. You'll have to take the neck off to see it. Of course, that only dates the neck. I'm not sure if there are any other dates on 'em. There may be a serial number decoder online somewhere. The letters look right for early '70s.

No name Jazz Bass knock off...from a pawn shop...Total piece of crap. That was Jan. 15th, 1989.

I find that my 4004 doesn't hold tune like the 4003 did. I blame it on the compact keys. It's not [I]real[I] bad, but I miss being able to pull it out of the case after a week and it be dead on. Oh well, I hope the jerk that stole my 4003 is enjoying it! :spit:

High Beams baby!! I've used 'em for 13 years. (not the same set):D Fat Beams aren't bright enough for me. New ones sound like dead High Beams.
